02 LS Radio Problems

I have an 02 with the Alpine in-dash 6 disc. I installed a USA Spec Aux input adapter today and when I reinstalled it the display just dislplays hieroglyphics(sp?). All the controlls and the radio work but the display is junk. Oh and the aux works fine too.
Any sugestions?
Or does anyone have a good Alpine that they replaced sitting in your garage?

I installed the same adapeter no issues, try unplugging the battery for about 10 minutes or longer.

Well I tried everything, even a local electronics shop. So I purchased a used factory radio from a salvage yard via http://www.car-part.com/ for $150. I looked on e-bay but none available.
