Hello everyone,

I know there's a lot of thread about intake manifold but I'm looking for intake manifold gasket kit, or list of parts.
Because my ls is has a big vacuum leak that's coming from and around the intake manifold.
when the engine is cool, it shakes and has rough idle, once the engine warm up and gets hot it runs fine with no problems.

There is a thread near the top that is containing this same information as I am fighting the exact same situation. I have had the intake off once for the main gasket, but now need to get it off again for the plastic-metal seam of the intake. They don't have replacement gaskets for that area, so you will need to use gasket maker.

Are you talking about between the intake manifold assembly and the cylinder heads?
Between the plastic part of the intake and the two metal parts?
At the end cap?
Between the manifold and the throttle body adapter?

Hey, I found these. I don't know if they are the correct ones or not.

Hey that looks exactly right! $136 for all 8... Hmmm, not sure if it is worth it.

yes all above, the throttle body, cylinder heads, the Insulator, should i say the whole works haha, i haven't replace any gaskets on the intake manifold.
I get codes for lean bank 1 and 2 sometimes rich banks 1 and 2, and misfire on 8, and OBD System Test Not Complete.
But when i spray carburetor cleaner around the intake the engine will run fine and it will idle fine and when i stop, the engine starts a rough idle.
I'm replacing the valve cover gaskets as while because i found some oil in cylinder 6,7,8 when i changing out the spark plugs and coils.

I will post a diagram of what parts

all the ones that i have highlighted are ones that are giving me a vacuum leaks.

For the "?" not sure if 6C653B comes separately from the intake manifold or with it as a one piece.

You have circled more than just gaskets, and the diagram is very small / low res. Also, not shown/circled are the plastic intake to metal intake gaskets (the ones likely to be leaking). Go to the ebay link for those, then go to FordPartsGiant and look the rest of them up.

If you really need all that, might be better to just buy a new intake manifold.

Here's a bigger diagram, and i might as well buy a whole new intake manifold since my car is 180,000+ miles on it. with a new intake it should last me another 180,000 miles or more.

well no sure why the picture is coming out small even though the size is 1154 x 1577 px

I am going to remove those gaskets between the metal and plastic and cake on gasket maker under, and above each one, then join the two pieces back together. The polished surface of the metal should provide a nice seal against the conglomerate. I will report back after NewYear weekend.

It does seem like that should work.

Okay I have the intake off again. It was a total mess using the RTV and the little gaskets, but I think it will be air tight. After tightening down the two pieces, there was a solid bead that squeezed into the intake ports. I ran my finger along the inside to smooth it out.

I want to let it dry for a few more hours before reassembling and firing it up. One thing I noticed is there was a small spot of oil speapage near cylinder 8 at my new gasket where it meets the block. Is using the RTV gasket maker in conjunction with the new gasket a no-no? I know it would be a complete mess if ever had to remove again. But I reeeeally don't want to have to take this stupid thing off again.

As long as you use only a small amount, it should be okay. Too late now (unless this is how you did it), but I think it would have been best to snug up the screws between the two parts, then wait an hour or so for the gasket maker to set. After that, tighten them down, and now there would be some compression of the gasket maker, so if it were to shrink back some later, it would still make a good seal.

Yea that's exactly how I have it. I have the two pieces tightened together at just under hand tightness going to fully tighten them down in about 30 minutes and reinstall.

And yea I think I will run a small bead all along both sides of the manifold gasket.

Thank for the help. I will update later today when I drive it. Although today is warm and there was minimal rough idle, this week is going to be very cold here and will be a good test. I still have my airbox just hanging there in case I need to pull the PCM at some point. (oh god please, no)

I bought a few of these parts from Ford/Lincoln to do this job on my 2004 LS V8 but looks like I'll have to retire the car (unfortunately underside frame is rusted badly) first so won't be using these new parts. I'll pull them together and list them.

Got everything put back together. I did the same carburetor fluid test as before and this time no change in idling pattern with the spraying. I will let you all know how this week goes with the bone-chilling morning starts.

This is what I have wondered. After many miles of heating and cooling cycles,,, and expansion and contraction... I have wondered what a "re-torque" of manifold bolts would do to help the seal. While I can't say I tried this as a remedy... when I did my cooling system rebuild,,, even though I didn't pull the intake manifold... I did still re-torque it.

Okay it has been two mornings now since the gasket repair, one @ 36F and the other @ 19F. I have had a perfectly solid and smooth startup both times. I am going to finish the week before declaring mission accomplished on the aircraft carrier, but it is looking like this may have been my problem.

Man that sucks to hear that about your car and this type of awesome pain and wonderful car haha.
I looking forward on seeing the list of parts you have bought.

Plasti-dip, not hulk paint.

Well it was 12F this morning and covered in snow, if it was going to have issues today would be the day.

I am officially noting that leaking intake gaskets could cause misfire codes. Do not spend hundreds of dollars on coils like me. I now have about $1000 worth of coils in a box.
