04 Mirror Question

I noticed while washing my car this evening that the drivers side mirror appears to have some sort of gasket surround where the passenger side does not, I'm curious as to whether this is normal or not since the dealer has worked on the passenger side mirror several times and I'm now noticing a 'creaking' noise coming from it.

weird - I don't know on the 04 - the 00-02 do not have this.

Just checked my 04 and it is just the opposite. The Driver's side has a gasket and the passenger side does not.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I'm guessing the gasket is on the drivers side due to the electronics of the autodim in the drivers side that aren't in the passenger side.

yes must be the electochromatic stuff

It's for the auto-dimming feature on the 03 and up exterior mirrors.

it is for the autodim feature if you notice it'll autodim at the same time your windshield rearview autodims.
