Hello! I’m new to the forum so hey to you all! I’ve never posted anything before, but I’ve had some problems a while now and would just love if I could get another fellow mechanics advice. And if you’re into the LS like we are. This is for you! Let me start by saying me and my husband work at a fleet service. I’m not the mechanic but he’s definitely taught me a fair share so I’ve been able to become a good diagnostician. I’ve even managed to change valve covers and injection pumps, I’ve become a total gear head. Now we’ve done AC jobs before, and we bought this LS a year ago. The guy didn’t know anything about cars, and he told us that he was told it needed a new DCCV. So to sum my incredibly long story short, this what all has been replaced...Compressor, Dryer, Condenser, DCCV, The #1 fuse for the DCCV, Aux coolant pump, and AC clutch, the relay for the AUX plump, and the relay for the AC clutch. The expansion valve has been replaced, (F*** my life on this part the whole dash had to come out). A blend door actuator for the passenger side because we thought we heard it clicking, didn’t realize there was more of them, the evaporator coil, heater core, Ambient air temperature sensor, the radiator, And the radio was changed out when everything come out Along with all new speakers.
now before I go further. The DCCV was the first thing changed, vacuumed the System down, recharged, bled the coolant. Ran fine but still no AC. So we noticed the compressor wasn’t kicking on so we changed it. Then that didn’t fix it, so that’s when we did all the internal parts in the dash, followed by later the condenser. Before the condenser that is when we noticed the #1 fuse was blown and the wire harness to the DCCV had two completely severed wires in the harness. We replaced and repaired and no change. Got another DCCV, no change. We think the first one was used since it was a $30 eBay part so we decided to splurge and get a new one for $120. Now right now we facing issues still. the system won’t take all the Freon needed, it’s only taking half, the compressor clutch won’t engage to take the rest, my autel shows me ac pressure sensor high input. And when we put in the number 1 fuse, the car won’t start, if we take it out, the car will start and then we can plug the fuse back in. But if you cut the car off and try to restart it it’s a little hesitant but it works. Also, with the car on or off, with the fuse plugged in the aux water pump starts whirring and won’t cut off, one day we accidentally left it in over night and the car was dead the next day. All the relays have been changed. I was debating on replacing the aux pump but it’s $300 at advance and it seems to be working. And another note, when you plug in the fuse while the car is off the throttle body will open and close a little Until you get the fuse all the way in. Now we are on a pause with the ac system since it still won’t work. Because after having done the condenser and having to take the radiator off, the thing just won’t stop over heating. We have bled and bled and bled and topped the system but it still overheats. The autel shows me code P1299 cylinder head over temperature protection active. So I guess our next plan if action is to replace the cylinder head temperature sensor and the ac pressure sensor, vacuum down the system and recharge and try again. Any advice on what should be checked? I’m honestly about tired of working on the AC and getting ready to sell it and get something else. I’ve went through spring and summer with no AC in 90° heat and it’s almost fall now. What should I do next?

Please, please stop yelling. It makes it difficult to read. My eyes hurt now. Also, paragraphs and such would be nice.

You are going to go broke just throwing random (and mostly unrelated) parts at this car and these problems. It's not going to work. You are going to have to correctly diagnose these issues. A giant clue to the problems is what is happening when you put fuse 1 in. You have some wiring harness shorts, and you will have to find and correct those first before you can ever get anywhere with this. Where the wires are all bundled together at the front right corner of the car is a known trouble spot, so I'd look there first. Still you will have to trace out the wiring and do the required resistance and continuity tests. You are going to need the wiring diagrams for the car. The aftermarket diagrams are okay, but the Ford ones have the details that you need on where the splices and such are.

Engine overheating is usually real (not a fault with the CHT), and is usually caused by micro cracks in the plastic cooling system parts. Almost always, all of the plastic parts have to be changed, and they really need to be the OEM parts, the aftermarket parts are almost all crap for this car. The DCCV also needs to be OEM. The aftermarket ones cause trouble after a month or so.

The aux pumps seem to last pretty well, and it's not any of your problems right now anyway.

I note that you have an internal PCM fault code. You should probably send the PCM in for diagnosis/repair as well, but you need to fix the wiring faults before you re-install it and damage it all over again.

I see that you have a professional scan tool, but I still recommend that you get Forscan. It will still give you a lot more detail than that tool.

Thankyou! Sorry my abilities to use this forum will improve. Insert winks.
We will trace down all wires and check them, along with getting the PCM tested. I will let you know what I come up with.
