13 second Mark VIII formula

I have a lightning with a frpp t-lok. I beg to differ. unless you are putting out a whole lot more power than i think you are, and running faster than 13's, which most of you aren't, the t-lok is fine.

if you want to go with a better "posi" setup and have the cash, eaton is the way to go. auburn, not so much on a heavier car.

just my two cents.

ive been watching a lot of vortech setup... I really like the setup. Another thought would be to get the C heads, which i see arnt too expensive - and get one of those used eatons off the cobra guys who are upgrading

You want a 13 second bolt on Mark VIII? Here's the formula...

- full tuneup
- 4.10-4.30 gears with trac-loc
- 3600-3800 stall converter
- 255/16 MT Drag radials
- Custom tune
- Exhaust (x pipe in place of 3rd cat and some high flow muffs)
- sea level drag strip

That's all that's needed, keep it simple guys...

What do you think the total would be having a shop do the upgrades, part's and labour?

Their are alot of cobra eaton's going around on ebay. And I don't know what kind of lightning your puttin around in, but I've blown 3 ford racing rear ends in the last year.

i toasted one two years ago at st. louis, very embarrassing.

but honestly if you have blown three of them why go back to a t-lok?

the eatons are better bang for the buck but most people can live with a traction-lok.

Mike Gilberts (Nightsky) 93 Mark 8 went 13s with
373 gears
stock tune
stock convertor
stock air meter w/paper filter
custom exhaust

ran in the mid 13.90's
