1986 LSC, pretty much stock with 110k miles on it.

I took the cover off the ecu and there was a blown circuit. On pin 45, so i tried to repair it but the car still wouldn't run (cranks and almost kicks but doesn't start).

First question: is What computers fit this thing? Stock computer is VL2, just wondering if any other years, such as 88 (theres a ton of 88's in the local junk yard).

Second question: What circuit is pin 45, i have an older FSM for the 84, which shows this circuit being for the MAP sensor. I just want to check the wiring for shorts and what not.

Third Question: Anyone willing to part with an ecu that would work?

Thanks in Advance!

Seems like you've got it right so far.

My '88 LSC wiring diagrams show pin 45 on the EEC as the Barometric Sensor Feed. (manifold absolute pressure sensor)
Wire is Dark Blue / Light Green.. 18ga. and it's one of 3 wires going to the MAP.

(sensor signal Feed OR/W, and sensor signal Return BK/W are the other two.)

I'd have no qualms about swapping an '88 box as a test if they only appeared identical, but whatever fried the circuit in the first place may still be a problem..

what fried the circuit was a bad starter solenoid that was stuck on, the car was trying to start for about a minute before i could get the battery disconected. It fried the tps, coil and a few fuses. I've pretty much been through the entire car and replaced everything that went bad or looked shotty, like the ignition switch...and i also threw in a new voltage reg after that even though i had just put a new one in a few months before.

Good to know that the 88 will most likely work, i figured it would but i didnt want to go and buy something i couldnt use.
