Have a beautiful 91, 28k original miles, never touched, always garaged kept. This car never saw rain or snow :)

Everything runs fine as I baby this car .. no problems at all.

All of a sudden I put my left turn signal on, was sitting for 30 seconds at a red light and ......beeeeeeeeeep! continuous alarm clock noise. I first thought that I had set the alarm (which I have never done since I owned the car) I tried to reset it, but was never set. I disconnected the battery, reprogramed the clock.
Restarted the car and thought nothing of it as the clock alarm sound went away for that day.

The next day while idling at a light again (this time without a turn signal on) the clock alarm sounded again and will not shut off. Any time the car is started or the key is in the "run" "on" or "acc" position the clock alarm sounds as long as all the doors are closed. If any door is open the clock alarm shuts off.

I am stumped as to what to try next. Possible mulitfunction switch? all other systems operate normally. Center console control panel? Every item of the control center functions normally. I do not have a "known good" switch or control panel to "try" and am all out of ideas..

Any suggestions as to what to do/check? I have done search after search on the net and couldnt find a thing. I would even go so far as to disconnect the clock alarm function if I could locate where the speaker for it is...

Thanks much in advance for any help :)

Does it read "DTE 0" when it starts beeping?

no, clock still reads as normal. Every function of the control panel works as intended. No other problems to be noted. Just beeps no matter what key position as long as the door is closed. Once driver side door is opened beep noise stops... close the door, it starts again.

Will try pulling the unit out I guess.

Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Sounds like it is a bad door chime. I would check the connection at the passanger door and see if you have a faulty switch.

hehehehe

Wouldn't you just crap if it were the alarm clock? (Button #2)

i hate to bring up such an old subject, but im having this same problem. any time the car is running or the key is in acc position, the inside alarm sounds CONSTANTLY. just started doing it today, and all i did today was top off the coolant/antifreeze. I have a 1990 Mark VII BIll Blass btw. tried everything short of disconnecting the battery so far. is there a way to just disable the inside alarm?

It is probably the Tripminder getting tired. You will get a lot more activity over on TheLincolnMarkVIIClub.org

thanks. i first thought it must be a short because the constant tone wasnt always steady, but sometimes faded a bit now and then. couldnt find an answer and couldnt figure out the correct answer for the security question on the MarkVIIClub website so i just unplugged the Tripminder for now and the problem has been circumvented. I think i need a new tripminder, though. The average speed reading sometimes just always showed 0, and other times always showed a completely inaccurate number. the DTE was always 0, and other functions were a bit finicky as well. Sad, too...other than that and a few minor electrical things (power mirrors and power door lock buttons), a small oil leak, and needing new paint, my Mark VII is almost perfect :(
