Note - Before you keep reading, you'll have to pick this car up.
W/ 162,737 miles. Working odometer. Only have put 1,307 miles on it myself.
This is my first time doing this so bare with me. It's really my friend's Mark VIII but it's been under my care for about 4 months now while he's in Texas. He's decided that he wants to ditch it and I told him I could try to sell it for him on here. This is the only place I'm trying to sell it, otherwise I'm just going to send it to the junkyard.
This Mark VIII has problems, lots of em. It's currently not drivable and hasn't been since October, I suspect the fuel pump as it turns over but just doesn't start. Tried putting more gas in it, nothing, so it seems like a prime suspect. (Sat for a while without gas.) My friend bought this car for $500 from Purple_Lincoln_Slayer on here in June with these known problems:
1. Tranny slips.
2. Missing driver's sidemarker.
3. Crumpled passenger side quarter panel.
4. Cracked windshield.
5. Bad tires all around.
6. Missing buttons on the computer dash.
Got it home, got it checked out, turns out these were the problems:
1. Tranny isn't great. (Was told it was rebuilt months before)
2. OD doesn't work and was causing it to not shift past 40, meaning the torque converter is shot.
3. Engine is only running on 7 cylinder. (Cylinder 1 is down)
4. Bad fuel pump.
5. Overheats, electric fan doesn't work. (Module is shot)
6. Alternator is bad. When the fan is running, car would dim and nearly die.
7. Rear airbag leaks over a day of sitting.
8. Dent in the passenger side on the bottom all the way down. (Pictured below)
9. On spare from above accident. Front passenger tire blew, it's in the trunk on the rim.
These are all the KNOWN problems with the car. This car was run for nearly two months with all these problems and didn't die on us once, it was just a terrible ride and a gas guzzler. In it's current condition, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets 9 mpg. It makes my Thunderbird look like a gas queen.
The good things are the interior. The back seats are in near perfect condition. The front driver side has the usual wear and so does the passenger, but not as bad. No sunroof, and the headliner is in perfect condition. The interior color is just the normal grey color, I don't know the exact name for it. There are some stains on the side from where the previous owner had drinks/food in the car, but nothing that can't be steam cleaned. The color of the Mark is supposively Rose Mist. I've only seen a couple other Mark VIIIs in this color, so I assume it's rare. It's actually a pretty cool color when the car is clean. Key code still works fine too, code is in the trunk. All electrics work fine. Also, it's missing two center caps. One is still on while the other is in the trunk.
Really, this car needs a lot of work which is why I'm selling it for only $350. It's a project car. I wish I could keep it and fix it up myself, but I have my Thunderbird to deal with. I'm only 18 but I'll be straight with you I NEVER ragged on this car and neither did the owner. (also 18) He had a Mark VIII before this and was good with it, but had to get rid of it due to money problems. Everything wrong with this car was done to the previous owner, who is a member here. (You guys should get him for doing this to a Mark VIII :shifty: ) It was used in drag a couple times from the previous owner, if I can find the videos on youtube I'd show you. (Mark VIII vs. SRT-4 might work) So this car USE to be fast and in good condition, just never when we had it. Also, we have it rigged to run the electric fan right now. All you have to do is disconnect it from the battery to take it off. (Never messed up any of the electrics in the time it was used)
Enough rabbling. $350, you have to pick it up as it won't start. It drove and shifted in every gear w/o OD before the fuel pump went out. You can just pick it up and part it out for more probably, but my friend's loss is your gain.
Now on to the pics. I have ton so you can judge by it's condition if you want it or not. It's a little dirty as it has been sitting in the graveyard with a Grand Am (my back yard) for about 2 1/2 months. I cleaned off where the dent is so you could see it better.
ANY QUESTIONS Simply PM me or ask in this thread, I'm willing to take any more pics or give you any more information. (If I didn't mention it already) I live in Pensacola, Florida, if you live near me get with me and we can work out when you can come see it. I'm here any time during the day so if you want to call me and talk to me over the phone about it, PM me for my phone number. Thanks for looking and have a Merry Christmas.
