ok. so holding unlock unlocks the trunk, double clicking lock arms the alarm, double... or triple clicking unlock unlocks all doors... (not sure - i just know if i hit it a bunch everyone can get in the car)..... but one time i opened all the windows and closed all the windows. how did i do that??

Holding unlock will make all the windows go down but I didn't know you can roll them back up with the remote too.

im pretty sure holding unlock just rolls down the windows.....

I dont think it rolls them up though ...... and if yours does im jealous !

it also has a blue button on it with a picture of a key that i have no idea what it does....

You can read all about the remote functions in your owners manual.

Are you joking? Your car has a Ford remote start installed. You will probably notice the antenna mounted on the windshield behind the rearview mirror. Only a remote start has a blue "key" button. Plus, only with a remote start do you pop the trunk by holding the unlock button (on the regular remote, there is no "key" button, but there is a trunk open button instead).

Hold the blue "key" button for about 3 seconds (until the horn beeps). Around 2 seconds later, the car will start. You still need to put the key in and turn it to on (not start!) before driving. If you touch the brake or shifter before then, the engine will stop.

Using the remote-start remote, holding the unlock key does in fact open the trunk. You can also put all the windows down by pressing and holding both the lock and unlock keys. It takes a few seconds for them to start going down, and they will stop when you release the buttons. If the thing was installed correctly, you can also activate the rear defrost (after remote starting the car) by pressing the blue button again (not holding it; that will stop the engine). Another optional feature is activating the headlights by pressing both the blue and red keys at the same time.

I know all this because I have a Ford remote start in my LS.

man. that information would have been infinitely more useful in winter rather than spring. it honks and everything like it should be starting, but it doesn't. it seems to turn on the lights. probably just have the key fob without the system. and presing both doesn't lower my windows. bummer. no biggy though. although my dad opened all my windows that one time with the fob without any issues. he seemed to know how to work it cuz he has a mercury grand marquis that seems to have a similar fob. should ask him too....
fob fob fob fob. funny word.

I once hit the button on my remote that looked like a unlocked padlock and it opened my doors. I took the car back to the dealer and had them rebuild the transmission and the motor and the problem went away.

...?
was that supposed to be a shot at me? i don't have the owners manual for the car. and there isn't a 2000 LS manual in the tech articles section. as it is it doesn't seem like i have a normal key thingy.
