2000 LS V8 Overheated, (Long description)

Whats wrong now? My car is fixed and after two day same thing happened. Does anybody know whats causing this?

Well, obviously it's not fixed yet. What was done to "fix" it? What has been checked? Who did the work?

Thanks for replying. Well, I called a tow truck to take my car to a shop, a "good mechanic" according to my brother, he recommended me that guy. The guy replaced the coolant reservoir and bled the system, After it was "ready" I picked it up and drove it home, It felt a little hot but the temp needle was at normal temp the whole time. Next day after a 20 mile drive the needle escalated from halfway to full or all the way up in less than 3 minutes. So called the tow truck again and the guy said he bled the system and added coolant and drove it a lot and it didn't over heat. So I picked it up and on my way home The needle went almost to the top. I'm worried it could be something more serious like, I dont know, maybe the heads.

Basically since I got the car back from the mechanic it overheated twice, and all he's done is bleed the system and add coolant, His work is guaranteed so I'm thinking of telling him to change the thermostat, but he should know that.

It's not the heads or head gasket.
Clearly, this "mechanic" doesn't know the LS. If he did, he would have replaced several other plastic parts at the same time.
Everybody complains about the dealer prices, but if you can't do it yourself, at least they (the good ones) can fix it right the first time.

Jag stat part number in my sig,

Oh yeah, almost forgot... On Amazon, you can pick up the Jag-stat for about 42 and change, and as far as the degas bottle, if you can find a used one, which I don't recommend, they are about 70 bucks for Genuine OEM, and new about 150-170, worth it if you rely on your car.

Damn, I paid way more for my Jag Stat housing then that!

Good job, looks good, welcome to the JAG Stat brotherhood of upgraded LS owners.

+1

PS: you did put the OEM LS thermostat in there right ? the Jag thermostat is not quite right for the LS.

----EDIT: No, just finished checking my paypal payment crap and found the JAG stat housing purchase for CAD$ 49.03 I got it from Rockauto and was confusing Amazon with my DCCV purchase.

Oh yeah, Motorcraft baby! I'm trying to slowly but steadily rebuild it, make it OEM. Everyone has tried talking me out of the car, telling me it's too much headache, and not worth the effort, but it's worth it to me, and thats all that matters.

I have a question, I replaced my degas bottle, over heated still, took it to the dealership had them do a coolant flush to assure all air was removed, it was a success, car still over heats, so everything as far as fans are working properly. Does that mean the last step for me is thermostat?

Check top hose, if you have excess pressure at operating temps, I'd suspect T-stat, but its an easy fix, and cheap, so best bet would be to go ahead and replace it if any doubt is present.
