Hi everyone! I'm new here as well as a new owner of a 2001 continental. I bought my continental 3 weeks ago. My inquiry is the transmission. 1st week great, second week so-so, this week awful. I continue to get a code for speed sensor a. When it happens My service engine soon light comes on followed by the abs light, and the tach and speedo go to zero and sometimes it affects my power steering. I get a warning in the message center that says gear data error, and one time i got the check transmission warning. I originally suspected a bad ground because my battery cables looked visibly bad. I changed them both and no better. the problem is intermittent. Did it real bad in the rain the other day then only a little yesterday in the dry and none at all today in the dry. Anyone have this problem before? Where is the speed sensor located? FYI, I checked the trans fluid level and it is fine, Car runs great and shifts well almost like it will chirp second. when the warnings are off it goes through all gears fine and when the warning is on it still goes through the gears just shifts at screwy intervals. Please help me I can't afford a transmission. The guy I bought the car from said the trans was rebuilt recently and I believe him. the trans is clean enough to eat off. Car has 150,000 miles. Thank you!
