ok i brought this car wit 87 thou on it... runs smooth like a champ. shifts and everything smooth... need secondary timing chains... i replace them with new ones... i had to remove the sprocket cuz it wasnt enough room... oh both sides... i didnt have the lockin tool but i marked them. lining everything back up... now i have a engine rattle... and it struggles to stay idle then shuts off... is this 1 or 2 problems? and i wont lie i half cleaned all the COP tips n wells... and changed the gaskets... figured it wasnt the problem since it came after i changed the tensioners... will i need the tool to set the timing???

If you marked them and lined them back up to where the chains where before I see that as being the wrong thing to do because the old chains were stretched and the tensioner was out of wack...I did mine yesterday and I turned the motor over to where the flats were up just like when you would use the tool...Then after I put the new chains on and finger tightened the cam bolt I had a buddy use a wrench and turn the cam back to where the flats were up and as close to the same as the other cam as we could get while I tightened the cam bolt.
Not perfect, the tool would have made it WAY easier and they would be dead on, but now it's back on the road and running fine.
@Slow91z... thankz 4 da quick reply... i hate wen ppl say search instead of answerin... such a waste... im orderin the whole timing chain set and timing tool set right now... i kinda figured wat u said cuz i just lined up the sprocket and only glanced at the cams... so ima redo the whole thing and see wassup... ill photo it... im just mad i sent someone to get me the sec tensioners from dealer and they were factory bs at $180 a pop... tight... cud get the whole updated set for $399... ill post back wen there delivered... i wanna make this my toy since there so rare on oem...

The tools makes it a lot easier and way more accurate.
Dark Kent- even though these are zero tolerance motors, your car will still run if it is off 1 degree of timing (like your motor sounds like). Do you have any check engine lights? If not, your timing is prolly off a degree. I wouldnt drive it anymore until you find out more. You could damage it worse. Good luck
