2001 LS project rebuild

Hite, if I didn't get a replacement pump so cheap from a lvc member I probably would have went electric as well. As far as reliability goes, are these pumps known to go bad? I haven't heard much about them, and mine would have been fine if I left it alone.

My pump was going out in my '00 LS so I did the conversion. I have heard of others having issues with the pump and/or solenoid. And I recall several stories of the wrong fluid going into the pump reservoir, washer fluid, coolant...The reservoir in my '02 LSE contained something that looked like strawberry milk so I converted it as well. It is just a better system IMO. Good luck with your LS...looks like you are dedicated to having one sweet ride.

it still hasn't really sunk it but this car, is done (mechanically) There's dozens of loose odds and ends to square away, but my LS made it around the block under it's own power for the first time in several years. outside of a little front end vibration under hard braking, there's not a mechanical flaw with the car at this moment. And that fact hasn't been true since 2004.

replaced:
Rack and pinion
ps pump/lines
alternator- 200 amp, maybe a battery will last longer then 2 years now?
hydro fan pump/hoses (thanks paul!)
engine harness/header panel - all engine sensors communicating
instrument cluster , towed to dealer. sucks because now my LS with 65k shows 115k. life goes on, I know the truth
clock spring!
2 abs sensor's - bye bye check advancetrack
2 headlights / tail lights w/new bulbs
new wing led light
vogue tires on the way from Georgia and top to bottom paint when I can afford it. (3rd time!)

the rest is forgotten in a fog of sweat and hand lacerations, this is the first car I've ever taken a wrench to. had some hand's on help but got most of it here.

with all the electrical problems I've had with this car I'm too scared to degrease the engine. The thought of taking a hose to it makes my heart shiver.

Now if I can only get the fluid stains off my driveway...
