i tried turninig on my car today and all the electrical lights turn on but i hear no CRANK when i flip over the key. when i check the fuse box under the hood i do hear the clicking sound from the relay clicking over and i first thought it was the PATS system but the light turns off when i try to turn on the car and all electrical lights turn off. i checked the battery at autozone and they said that its charging at 95%. so do you think i may have a bad starter or what?

Starter, starter relay, loose cable. It's pretty easy to tell which of those three it is with a DMM.

whats a DMM. but i do hear the starter relay click in the fusebox thats under the hood. maybe i should check the wires to the starter. hmmmm.

dmm= digital multi meter. About $15 for a cheap one at most any store. I bought my craftsman one last year from Sears ($30 marked down to $15). Great, cheap investment.

ok i got the car on but what i did i pushed the car for maybe 2 to 5 inches and then turn the car on and it cranked and turned on. then i waited 5 minutes and then turn the car off and then it started back up again like normal. i did this serveral times and it worked fine. now im puzzled to what it might be.

sounds like a misaligned johnson rod. Or it's failing. Dealer only fix I.m afraid. I called a local shop here, and they want 350 to replace it. I'd call your local dealer and ask them to see what they charge.

the f*(k is a johnson rod??? sounds like somethin only men and trannys have

Tell the dealer you want to upgrade to the black version. It should help keep this from happening to you again. Best investment I've made.

have you checked your electrical fluid? the dipstick is under the hood next to the johnson rod if it is low then the car wont start unless you were on a hill then it might start,:shifty:

classic johnson rod, better take it to the dealer right away

electrical fluid how do you add more, does anyone have a pic of this. i have ALLDATA 10.0 and i could not find any info on this. i took it today to my mechanic ( AKA my brother, i get the "free ninety nine" discount) and he said that that it seems that the rod that comes out of the starter is getting stuck out and when we move the car it moves the rod and it goes back into place thats why it starts up normaly after that, he said that we can clean the started to get all the dirt and grime out. what do you guys think.

you guys are funny my brother was reading this post and he couldnt lmao.... johnson rod i should of known bettter lol..... no wonder i couldt google this... if you cant google it then it dont exist lol..... you guys got me..good one.

i should of figured it out after dnycls post but i was in lala land ...not to mention i was telling myself WHO DA HELL WILL NAME A ROD AFTER HIMSELF... but you think that was bad i called the dealer and told him that i think my johnson rod was bad and he said he was going to research it and call me back.... i get the big L for that one....
