ls hammer:

I know you are new.

I know you are excited.

But word of warning- Please search this site before posting.

Otherwise you are going to get flamed all to heck!!

I was goin to say that too, but being he's a new member, let's help him out.

The only appropriate tuner to buy is the SCT Xcalibrator, or XCal for short. The one most members here use in the XCal 2. Use the search function at the top of the page to yield a wealth of information in a bunch of threads that can help you out.

After reading some of those, if you still have unanswered questions, we'd be more than happy to answer them!

I have been looking at the XCalII for about a week now. I have some questions about its capabilities.

Do they give you 3 generic ford tunes in the box, or is it locked and you give your vehicle description and modifications to the SCT dealer and they load it?

The device does data logging, but its unlclear if you can customize the tunes. It doesn't say anything about buying the additional software to do it, but I think thats what you need.

Lastly, has everyone got theirs from different places? I would love to get the same tune from a dealer that anyone else has the mods I'll be doing in the future;

my purpose and goal for considering this is to safely run a 100 shot of N2O, not really for the small HP gain in and of itself.
Thanks,
Dave

With the X3's you have both options. You can use the strategy flash function that will yield about 17rwhp and 17rwtq in your LS or you can upload custom tunes too.

Once you program your car with it the unit does become locked to the car until you program the vehicle back to stock.

You can slightly modify certain aspects of the tune but that is dependent on whether that particular end-user setting was made available when the tune was made for you. Such things as spark, fuel, rev limiter, speed limiter, idle, shift point, and shift firmness are some of the settings available for the end user to modify to their contentment. Keep in mind that this is not FULL custom tuning available at the end user level because if we gave full access to the tunes allot of people would mess with the wrong stuff and blow their engine up.

There are two main tuners with Lincoln LS experience:

ILLS who is posting in this thread, you can PM him on this form.

Torrie@fastpartsnetwork.com, you can email.

Both will be able to answer your questions. It is important to have after the sale support, my experience is with Torrie. Both have great customer service, the difference between the two tuners seems to be there individual approach to initial tuning.
