Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I'm having a hard time finding a picture of where the thermostat is located.
Is it on the top of the engine bay near the coolant filler cap or in another location? We got the random overheating issue & are starting with a flush/replacement of the coolant followed by replacement of the t-stat if that doesn't solve the problem.

Thanks,
Andrew

Here's a thread with some pictures of it.

I'm sure that you are the one exception to just about everyone else here and will find that the thermostat replacement fixes it. If you are wondering, just about everyone else with the same symptoms has found that they were caused by tiny cracks in the plastic cooling system parts letting air into the system. These parts include (but are not always limited to) the degas bottle and the thermostat housing.

I guess it's safe to assume that if you don't know where the thermostat is, you won't know how to correctly fill and bleed the system. It has to be done by the book.

Thanks Joegr,

I have read the other threads about this problem and couldn't find any coolant leaks anywhere including the degas bottle. That's why I thought the t-stat might be faulty. That's exactly where I thought it was but wasn't 100% sure. Have already read the proper filling procedure, thanks for the link.

most people are looking for the wrong things when looking for a leak in the cooling system with this car...
