Hi,
I am new to the forum and had a question. I am going to be replacing the speakers and headunit in my 03 LS (12 speaker system) and wanted to know if any of you think this will work. I was going to replace the 4 door speakers with Boston Acoustics SL80's (5x7/6x8). I would run them off of the new headunit amp. Then I was going to get a pair of Infiniti Kappa 680.7CS (5x7/6x8) components to replace the rear deck using the existing amp in the back. I read somewhere that the amp back there is 2 ohm, and the Infinity speakers are the same. Is this correct? Also, are the rear deck speakers really 6x8, or are they 6x9? Since the Infinitys in the rear are components, I was only going to use the woofer part of the speaker only and leave the tweeters off. Will this work? Any help / suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

There are a zillion posts here about this sort of thing. I would recommend you search. I think it's been covered so many times folks just don't want to rehash it again.

Hello Whskynbeer,

Yes, the sub-amp on the rear deck drives 2 ohm loads (well on my 2005). You can crawl into the trunk and peel back the trunk liner. You'll notice the speakers there are labeled 2 ohm. Now, I really don't know about the Kappas. Through the crossover, they are two ohm, but I'm not sure of the load if you drive the speaker only. And, its not good to use the crossover without the tweeter load. I recommend hitting the contact at the Infinity web site, they were very helpful.

Thanks for the help. I wanted to use the rear deck speakers as woofers the way it is currently set up rather than use up trunk space for one, but now I'm not so sure. Anyway, I appreciate the input.
