Alright so I just put 4 new O2 sensors on my Lincoln, a new MAF a new oil cooler, went around the block and it drove tremendously better than it has ever! Well I’m about to turn into my neighborhood and I give it a good bit of gas and it just started slipping in all auto side gears, but if I go from park straight to the manual shift 1-2- and sometimes 3/4 will engage and it’s drivable. But at most times when I try to shift to 3 from 2 it will have a pause then catch and engage. And trying to shift into 5th it will just automatically go back down to 1st or second gear. I’m about to purchase a good pair of car ramps and maybe drop the pan. Any help would be so appreciated. The car just hit 200,000 mile mark and I’ve always taken care of it. Bad pcm? Bad or worn/broken servo related problem? I’m stumped when it comes to these giant computers lol.

Note that a bad (this includes aftermarket) MAF can cause shifting problems (weird, right?).
Yes, it could be the PCM, but it is probably internal transmission problems, like broken servos, worn servo bores, bad valve body springs, sticking solenoids. Whatever it is, drive it much and you can add failed clutches to the list.

thank you for replying! I just made an account on here and man is there alot of info on here about cars. I got the thing for 600$ I’m gonna try and stick the old MAF sensor back on and see if it helps. If not I guess I’ll be draining the fluid and dropping the pan, again thank you! I’ll keep updated.

And I might add it’s just a play vehicle for now. Was going to be a daily until this happened and I bought another truck. So it might be a yard ornament if things get too bad.
