Has anyone have any problems with their heat/cool seats? The front passenger heat/cool seat does not work. When i press the button for either the heat or cool, it lights up for 5-10 seconds then turns off without heating/cooling the seats. This does not happen to the driver's seat, they stay lit and the temperatures adjusts as you wish. Perhaps this is something that can be repaired under warranty. Any assistance.

If you have warranty take it in. Sounds like a control unit issue to me. Does this happen when there is a passenger in the seat?

Yeah it happens regardless if there is a passenger in the seat. For a minute I was thinking it may have been an occupancy sensor issue, but after testing it with no one in the seat, I realized that's not the case. I still have some months of warranty left on it, so I will have it checked out. I guess with this car, its worth spending the extra $1500 or so for the extended warranty, may do just that when I take the car in.

My 04 did this and it was a crushed duct that feeds the seat with the air. Didnt do the work myself so Im not sure what the duct looks like.

My 06 has the exact same problem -- passenger seat does not heat or cool. When I press either the heat or cool buttons, the light stays lit for about 5 seconds, then goes out. I think its a controller issue, and not the crushed ductwork (see below), so I'll be taking it in.

In some cars, notably the 2003 and early 2004 models, the ductwork in the seat would get crushed and prevent proper airflow to the seat ventilation system. When in heat mode, this would result in an overtemp error (a safety feature) and the system would shut off after about 3-4 minutes. There is a TSB to fix this, and I've sent it to many people (some of whom thank me and some of whom do not -- which pisses me off, but that's another story).

The problem 2005 LS Ultimate and I have seems to be different. I'm no mechanic, but the fact that the lights go off so quickly suggest to me its an electrical issue, instead of a over-temperature issue. Indeed, under these circumstances, the system is not on long enough to generate any significant heating or cooling.

2005, if you take your car in, please report back what the diagnosis and fix were. I'll do the same.

I have an '04 and this happened to me as well. It was on the drivers side and I found some tsb's for the seats. Turned out that the heat ducts in the back of the seat had disconnected so the backrest wasn't getting the air flow. It is a warranty item but I just took the back of the seat off and duct taped the vents together( that's actually what they say to use in the repair, believe it or not) it's been working 100% since.
