Guys, I've searched and searched couldn't find anything.

I just bought a 2006 Lincoln LS. The original Navi/Radio unit had a blank screen and owner told me it went out.

I just bought a Brand New unit from someone on ebay and just installed it. The Screen is blank again!

I did also notice that the DVD/Navi player in the trunk is missing. Does the screen need the DVD player to function or is it a coincidence that I was shipped a bad unit?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Maybe someone can disconnect their DVD/Navi device in their trunk and let me know if their screen lights up?

BTW, the radio, volume, cd player all work just can't see what I'm doing because the screen is blank.

Thanks.

Rob

EDIT:

Wait just so I understand you correctly....I need the trunk unit and it should work?

The correct statement is that the screen (and pretty much everything else) on the headunit will not work at all without the DVD ("brain") unit in the trunk. It generates all the video and has most of the intelligence for the system. Also, the navigation features won't work without the navigation DVD being in the DVD unit in the trunk. You need both the unit and the disc. Also, you better check on the left sidewall of the trunk and make sure the four-channel amp is there. You'll get no sound without it.

Are you sure this LS came from the factory with nav, instead of someone thinking they could add it with just the headunit?

Yeah, I'm sure it came with Nav. Looks like someone at one point ripped the carpet off and stole the DVD "Brain". The wiring is there, just no unit. I'm ordered a dvd player and Navi disc from ebay. I'm going to try it and see what happens. At this point, I could have gone aftermarket and made it work but oh well. The radio and sound works as is. I just can't see what I'm trying to select.
