So I got bored this weekend and went and test drove a 2011 Genesis Coupe 2.0T. It is a nice car not the fastest thing in the world but i think its faster then my LS. Plus it gets better gas mileage then the LS and I like the look of it too. Was thinking of going back and trading in. Has anybody heard anything bad about these cars?

Buddy of mine has one, same car with exhaust, cai, bov, and a tune running 10lbs of boost. Things a rocket. But I'm 6'4 and it's not the most comfortable thing in the world

Think of it this way, what did you buy your ls for? Speed or luxury. You can't get both unless you spend a lot of $$$. You'll miss all the courtesy features of the ls but maybe the power of turbo and nimbleness of a coupe will make up for it

To each his own I guess.

My 2006 LS with crappy tires and stock brakes beat a 2010 Hyundai Genesis in an SCCA SOLO2 autocross. And that was with the same driving instructor driving both cars that he had never driven before with my fat-ass in mine. The LS was around 4 seconds faster. I believe it was the V6 Hyundai, for what that's worth. I do remember the driving instructor being surprised that the LS actually beat the Genesis. He also complained about the brakes like I did.

So I am not sure how much better it will perform in stock trim. To me it would be a question of the aftermarket :)

Or even better just don't get a Hyundai. For the price if a genesis there's a lot better out there.

I did some reading on the genesis and they say the engine is based on the same one in a lancer evo. It can go from the stock 210HP to just under 300HP with not to many mods done to it. Dont know if im going to do it but still thinking about it.

What is the price??

You can always look at getting a used supercharged jaguar. Or a cts/sts v.

Test drove a 2011 genesis 2.0t...wasent really impressed for a small guy or skinny guy would be great the seats really hug your body, but you can feel the turbo lag. the V6 has 300hp sounds like a rocket never driven one...the brembo brakes dont stop the car any faster they just look amazing. 6 speed manual would be awsome. LOVE the look of the car very sexy...get a hard on everytime i see one...aftermarket is huge for these cars...got the coin buy it...the sedan is not as nice looking and cost is huge. stick with the stylish coupe.

++++1 . I'm not sure what kind of safety features the Genesis has but when I was T boned in my Tiburon at 35 mph that car disintegrated like it was mangled with a wrecking ball. That and the passenger air bag never deplod. It did have them. I looked in the manual after I got the car back. When I had a few body shops look at it for the repairs, two had mentioned how bad it looked for NOT being wrecked at high speeds. I also had tranny problem
s in both tiburons. But that could of been my fault :shifty:

How can you have a picture of a girl you have in your sig and say Genesis is sexy....;)

Plenty of used 350s and G35s for that price.

Hell there's an 07 sts-v for 22k in my area and those are nice and fast.

yea but not that great gas mileage. I drive mostly street. might as well keep the ls in that case.

A more efficient vehicle is not worth a car payment. And it's maybe only a difference of a grand or two a year on fuel cost.

A 20k vehicle costs 5k a year. If your LS is paid for you can get a gas saver under 10k and have a second vehicle to get around. I will never get rid of my ls even if I buy something else.

two peas to a pod, son

Gotcha granps.

I agree, definitely not worth it. Genesis gets 30mpg on the highway. I am gonna say driving the way you drive your LS, you will average 22-23mpg.
I get that in my 05 V8 in the summer. And, i don't drive easy.

Buy a used mustang gt, much better for the price and a huge amount of aftermarket parts for them.

AVEY , please don't take this personally.
That being said.
Down with mustangs! Bah! Rubbish! before I take this too far I'll stop.

Mustangs are cramped and ride rough compares to the ls. Oh and all the plastic on the inside.

they look sexy as hell and have huge aftermarket but that's it.
