25 Mpg

Thanks pagluy and rainjacks for your responses, i will be driving from my home town of Pocatello, Idaho to Sacramento to spend the summer out there and am kind of curious to see what kind of numbers i will be able to get and compare with what a lot of you guys have been getting.

Don't expect anything to great once you get here. 91 octane is all you will find, unless you want race fuel.

I've got everyone beat. My last tank got 9.3 MPG. I only drive 1 mile to work and 1 mile back, and the car would warm up for about 10 minutes. My damn car warms up really slow. I think my DCCV and stat are going on me.

Wow, how long do you go between tanks jolinc?

I get about 20 in mixed driving. Best tank 24 (mostly highway).

is it normal to get about 16.7 mpg all the time...,,,?"? oh and i drive about 100mph all the time thanks to radar detector.. all highway

when i get in a gas conserving mood, i drive 55mph for the 45 mile drive to work. i've had a best of 33.3 mpg right after filling up for about 30 miles till i get off the high way. but by the time i get home its down to 26. but if i drive normally (75-80) i get in the low 20's

It was about 2.5 months. I just filled it up today actually. It does alot better when the wife takes it to work a few times a week. I usually get around 18 when she takes it.

I hit 26 on a trip to toledo in my v8. 25 is average.

This is right on with what my 06 LS (V8) gets according to the MPG computer. If anything, I get a notch greater. Tires, load, engine tune, lubricant condition, speed, weather, geography and elevation can really play havoc though with making blanket assumptions on what the MPG should be.

BTW... I think that the computer on my LS is biased to read low although I have been too lazy to verify this with a calculator. I have though checked out the MPG computer on a Nissan and it was definately biased to read low. My guess is that there is a bias built into the algorithim that gives more weighting to low instantaneous MPG numbers (such as up hill or idling at a stop light) than to higher numbers (such as down hill).

Mine always seems to be biased to read high (also 06). Every time I do the real calculation it's 1/2 to 1 mpg lower than what the computer claims!

Just an update. Did a 75% city 25% highway test and came out to 16 MPG. Man I hate being in the 10's. Our Woo is in the 20's all the time no matter what. But I like the luxury of the LS.

Just took a trip to salt lake this weekend from my home in pocatello and got up to about 23, pretty satisfied with that considering a big majority of the drive is up and down mountains
