Well as the tilttle says im considering putting in a 2JZGTE from a supra. I have a friend that is really into 2JZ's and he ran the idea by me of putting one in the LS. Fitment and wiring of the engine will not be an issue for us, getting it running is my last worry. Im just looking for alittle more insight on the wiring of headlights, dashlights, and as many other comforts that can remain in use. What can and cannot be used?

everyone here will tell you not to do this. these cars are very complex wiring wise to say the least. getting the 2jz to communicate with the ls' gauge cluster, windows, wipers, turnsignals, will be the accomplishment of the decade. ford engineers couldn't even do that and they swapped to another ford engine.IIRC I think the car was for the "one lap of america" or something.

I may just be better off using autometer gauges, along with rewiring the windows, locks, wipes, stereo, and such. I can use an aftermarket wiring kit for the headlights, tail lights, and turn signals. I was just trying to see if there would be a less time consuming and expensive route. It can be done.

Like to see something different..let us know how the project goes. Those supra motor's can take nasty amounts of boost. How much horsepower are you expecting?

do you want this car to be street legal?
do you have emission testing or annual DOT inspections in your area?

ya pretty much every aspect of the interior wiring of the ls is on the CAN network, gut it all and redo everything or dont do it at all

Heres a 2JZ swap with nas lol it appears very doable with the LS

I say go for it. All I was tring to tell you was that youll have to reengineer alot of the wiring that you take for granted. Everything on this car seems to be run though some kind of module box. What do thouse engines usually go for?

I would pull a 2JZ out of a Lexus and build it up instead. Its gunna be hard to find a decent Supra motor and its not worth hunting down a Supra for the motor. I would just then build the Supra. Awesome looking cars with balls!

But either way it wont work out at all. The wiring can be done in round about ways but none of the electrical components that will be needed such as the instrument cluster will work unless you put everything from the Supra into it. Again, in that case I would just build a Supra.

I say if your going to do it... make everything custom... gauges and all... dumb the factory wiring and computers and buy a PAINLESS system...

The motor and trans i can get practically for free. As i said before my friend loves these motors, and has a few motors just laying around. I do want to keep it "street legal" but an inspection sticker is easy to come by, and we have no smog test of any kind. Im considering just droping the motor and trans in and getting it running and just decide from there on what i wanna do. This part should be easy, and just so you know it will be a 6 speed aswell :D . I do not plan on starting this until March so do not expect any progress until then.

"Ive been thinking why dont you keep the LS as a DD. Build a 2jz and put it in a lexus IS or GS"
Because All Of Those Have Been Done Before...Never Seen A 2JZ Lincoln LS, So Why Not?

I number of members have thought about trading out to a different motor, you could be the first, hope you have deep pockets.

I will be doing most of the work myself, in my own garage. So im not exactly trying this to spend money, im only willing to put in about 2000 or so. The motor and trans are the expensive parts, and i will be getting those for dirt cheap if not free. So no huge amounts of money will be needed.

PAINLESS?

There is no PAINLESS system to drop a non-LS engine into the car....

Where did you get this information?

I'm not talking about a plug and play system... all he needs is the harness from the Supra.. and a Painless to run everything else...

He has no smog to worry about so a stand alone system would work great for what he needs......

hey empirels, did something happen to your engine after you did the custom cams?

What? "a Painless to run everything else" - what do you mean?

Everything from the odometer to the airbags are run from modules inter-connected via a bus. signal lights, ingition, fuel pump - all are computer controlled - via different modules.

No problems at all the car still runs great, even worked out the bugs in the tranny. Although I honestly haven't drove it much lattly since my girlfriend uses it as her DD since her car was totalled in sept. So yes it is still plenty reliable, although gas mileage did go down it wasn't to much. I plan on selling my motor if i go the 2JZ route so if your interested send a PM.

You will pass the 2k mark without blinking. Even if you do it yourself.
