5 Week Old DDM tuning HID KIt Failing...

I would get the next kit locally and cheap as possible.

Just an FYI, it's illegal to produce a HID kit in the US.. Any kit will be overseas but you have to find the good ones.. I would only think that maybe the big cities on the west coast would even have a shop to walk into to buy them.. Nowhere up here has them; you have to buy them from the internet..

Well I guess I am undecided on what to do. I will contact them and see what they say. If it is a problem then they lose a customer for life. If not they have a chance at me buying from them in the future.

After a few weeks mine started flickering as well and eventually would not turn on. It turned out that the light bulb was not securely in the housing. Took it out, reinstalled and every thing was good. My brother has had to return his, he ordered the wrong kit and as long as you return the whole assembly they will ship you a new one. He called and left a message and they returned his call the next business day. In the other four cars we have them in, we haven't had a problem.

Good info. I bought my lows and fogs from a little stereo shop locally. The lows are a brand called HALO 2 and have been bulletproof so far. The fogs are no name and I believe I have a ballast out right now. Soon as I confirm that, dude will just hand me another one. I'll buy the bulbs off the net but not the kits. I've seen my brother go through too much.

I can't believe it! Driver's side is flickering already!! This really ticks me off...

I can't find their email address to save my life. But reading their warranty information you basically have to get an approval from them to send the piece back, send it back at your cost, then they have to test it, then if they find a fault with it they will order you a new one. Based off of my 18 day wait time between ordering the kit and it finally shipping I am guess it will be a while before I get my crap back...

Meanwhile my pregnant wife runs the risk of a headlight going out on her:mad:

Anyone have warranty experience with them?

Go to their website and get the phone number. It took around 2 weeks for the whole warranty process. This was about 1-1/2 to 2 years ago, and my kit was around the same age when it failed. I'm still a customer of theirs after the warranty return.

check out v-leds kit, im running them right now and so far no problems other then a slight flicker when i turn them on

Thanks for all the info guys.

Update:
I called them and the guy was really knowledgable over the phone. He told me a couple of things to try and said for me to give it a week to see if it continued or got worse. And he went ahead and authorized my return so I could do it at my leisure if the problem persisted. He said it is generally a 48 hour turn around and the ballast would ship from CA this time, not China.
I checked them when my wife got home, and no pulsing or flickering... We'll see what happens...

Good to hear. Told you they are pretty understanding and will work with you.

Good deal. Their customer service is decent, it's their shipping that's horrid.

I'm glad they offered to take care of you. Thats good to hear as I'd like to make a purchase from them for my fogs.

They are one and the same to me. It's the internet age, I really can't stand to deal with a company that's slow on either of those.

Why not spend $80-$100 on a quality digital ballast kit the first time and save yourself the troubles?

because you can not buy a quality ballast for $100, the only way you can get a quality ballast, is to buy OEM equipment because it has quality controls that have to be followed.

and there is no real difference between $40 kits and $200-$300 kits, they are all equally cheaply made and have none of the testing to ensure otherwise. it is pointless to spend more than the minimum you have to that include a lifetime warranty.

anybody i have ever seen have any problem DDM has taken care of them. i had on ballast flicker from the moment i got it, called them and shipped it in, and had a new one my weeks end, was it convenient? no, but of course you have to expect things like that will go wrong when your paying 4% of what the real deal cost.

if you want premium product, then your gonna have to pay up. few people are spending the cash on OEM lights (my hat is off to you gentlemen)

+1.

Dont matter if you pay 40$ or 240$ its the same thing unless you're getting a killer deal on some OEM stuff. If people honestly do some real research some of you will find that its the same ballast with some of these companies like the ones on ebay used over and over by different vendors for a range of prices.

So.. I got the Lincoln fired up today and put the headlights in.. Mine will come on and go off.. Sometimes they'll stay on for a period of 5 minutes or so then go out and come right back on.. Is this what your's where doing? Mine is doing it with both sides..
