5R55 N/S/W High Cap. Trans. Pan/Dip Stick

I'm definately interested in putting a dip stick/fill tube in mine. I cringe at the thought of going to the dealer just to get a fluid change.

A NPT-Compression fitting, steel tube, and a modified used dipstick with a little work and you can have one in your stocker trans pan if you want.

How do you know where to put the marks on the dip stick?

What I would do is the dipstick tube install first. Make sure that you install the NPT-Compression fitting as low as possible on the side of the pan so that you know it will allow the dipstick to go low enough to register the fluid level. Then take your car to get the trans fluid filled so that you know the fluid level is perfect. After that just stick the other dipstick in there and see what the level is at and mark from there. I suggest getting a trans dipstick from a truck as it should be long enough so that you can trim it down to fit the proper length to fit inside the tube without going into the pan itself.

There is another way to mark the dipstick but it is a little more involved of a measuring process. I suggest the first option as it will be very accurate if performed correctly and will be quicker than the second option.
