$89K 2002 Cougar

I just don't like them... I don't consider cars like the Lotus 7 or the Ariel Ato, to fall in that category... I don't like replicas more accurately.

If you're willing to look at the Superformance line, or the output from Factory Five with an unprejudiced eye, you'll have no trouble agreeing that these 'replicas' are substantially superior to the originals.

The Factory Five Daytona, for example, is improved by going back to Pete Brock's original design for Appendix J and then making the small changes that have been discovered as beneficial since 1964. The Smith Brothers (owners of FF) put Mr. Brock under contract to improve his 1964 design.

It's been calculated that the Daytona has a drag coefficient of .29.

And it's available from FF for about $20 K. What's not to like?

Well - not really - once you get a drive train, and figure in your time - they cost quite a bit more than that - I usually see them in the $50,000 range once they are complete...

I don't care if they made them better, or if they are cheap, or reliable or anything else. You stand next to a replica, sit in one, ride in one... there just isn't anything there... You stand next to a real Cobra or Daytona and you know its real... those cars have substance.
