Headlights are very dim unless I use high beams, don't want to go around blinding everyone so I'd like to upgrade my low beams. From what I can tell the reflective material is still there I know that they are prone to flaking.

First from what I've read even if you were to swap to say silver star ultras it will still be dim. Needs more info on the validity to this.

Second I could potentially do a plug and play HID kit with say some 6k bulbs. Will this cause the housing to melt? These are small housings and I'd hate to overheat them. 6K is about as low as they come and I can't find anyone who has already tried this...

Third, finding a set of 96 LSC housings with factory HIDs seems either impossible to find or extremely expensive like over $1,000...

Let me know.
Thanks

i paid around 300 for HID housings with bulbs. so keep looking.

another option is to hunt down some new old stock (NOS) factory halogen housings. Tasca Ford had some last i checked.

next, you can recondition the housings you already have with some sand paper and buffing compound. there are some write ups on that, and then you can rechrome the inside with some chrome trim brite tape.

if they are the factory halogen housings, the chrome is burnt to a crisp. i ran halogens in my NOS housings for less than a year and they started to burn, so i switched to HIDs.

most HID kits run at 35 watts. about half of the factory 60 watt halogen bulbs. when i switched to HIDs, the burning stopped in my housings.

my LSC HID housings which have had HIDs there entire life, do not have any burning.

How can I tell of I have halogens?

Reflective material is still there and the lenses are not fogged/yellowed, car was garage kept its entire life.

If it's yellow, then you have halogen. And 6K is not optimal for light output, go for 4300K or 5K.

hmmm... Is there anyone out there who tried doing a retrofit with projectors?

Actually answered my own question on that one.

Will a plug and play kit throw an error on the readout on the dash?

Also would this kit require a HID harness or does the factory lighting harness supply enough power to run the ballasts?

looking at a DDM tuning kit

my '94 is using 5000K 9005 bulb right now and it produces a whiter light but very fatiguing on long drives.

I put the DDM tuning 4500K in my Daimler and I can see better at night with them than 5000K. Light output is brighter too.

my '94 will be upgrading to 4500K soon.

Not to bad looking once they are put in think. I would definitely would look into this but do it on a spare set.
