95-97 Rear Tailight Strip

What was it that made the rear strip either the 2 light or 8 light?

The 2 light is only the reverse lights and the reflector strip and the 8 light the reflector strip lights up when you turn your lights on.

Was this like a special feature for custom ordered TCs?

Center light strip.

95-96 had the reverse lights in center, and 3 small lights on either side.
97's had the reverse lights in center as well, but most of them had the 6 little lights deleted.

Wouldn't they have different wiring depending on if the car came with it or not?
