My O/D has a mind of its own and works on occasions. When my car is started sometimes it is in od and sometimes its not. When driving with the od off I am able to press the button a hundred times and no switch. Sometimes it will if i get the tranny at the point where it would normally shift into od and i hit the button. sometimes it will have a mind of its own and switch in and out itself. Somedays it works just fine. I have taken appart harness and switch. everything is like new. any help will be much appreciated. its killing my milege.thanks!!!

I hate so sound like the resident Search NAZI, but dude, there are a ton of topics on your exact problem. You don't think you're the first with the OD switch problem, do you?

Try the search feature. People tire of posting the same answer every few weeks.

I'd pull the fuse out and drive it for a while to try to rule out the switch and switch wiring. If the OD doesn't turn off with the fuse out, I'd check the wiring and switch again.

The fuse is the same as the auto lamp circuit so you'll have to turn your lights on manually for a while.

I use the SEARCH feature myself there pal. everyone has issue with the o/d switch. nothing I found describes the issue im having. I hate to sound like a search NAZI but dude, have you found a post that has the same issue and an answer? You dont think your the only person to use the search feature, do you?

as for billcu. thanks for the info. this may be something that may help me.

First off, we're not pals. We're not drinking buddies, hell we ain't even buddies. Chances are, if I saw you on the street, I wouldn't even look at you twice.

You say you used the search feature? Show me your search result links then.

I have found 2 threads that have answers to your problem, and I wasn't even looking hard.

I don't know how to use the search feature as well as Frogman, that's for sure. Obviously, you're less bright than both of us. Either that, or too lazy.

So, show me your search results then.

Some search results I have skimmed through.
nothing in there has helped me one bit. Maybe im blind or you have super search beta version.

Just lookin to see if there is someone here that may have a solution besides the cable or b utton. I have gone through all of the tearing of the center console apart and checking everything. No issues there.

Yeah... one of the first two, of this I am now sure.

And I'm not talking, I'm typing. BIG difference.

You must have the special Mark VIII with the wireless O/D notification then, since everyone I know that's had problems with it turned out to be the wire.

I don't have any experience with the Wireless O/D stuff.

any luck with pulling the fuse.... maybe a part of the wires are broken that you overlooked. i would have to say that somewhere on that switch line there is a mess up in the wire. you might have an uncommon case but we need to rule out the switch and wiring first.

Havnt had a chance to pull the fuse yet. One other thing I have noticed is that I can get the O/D switch off if I press the button the same time I turn the engine over.

Wireless O/D....wow Reaper is a tool.
