I picked up a very beautiful 96 lsc with 121k on it. Body and interior 8/10. Only bad thing is guy overheated it blowing headgaskets. I have a 97 lsc motor for a donor. Is that motor swap able? Being diff intake and coil packs to cop? I have both motors complete still. 97 in car runs still. 96 just cranks over popping and very slow turn over almost like old school distributor 180 degrees out. So is the 97 motor swap possible or what do I have to do to make it work in the 96. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys let me know what you know please!!!

you will need to swap most things over to the other motor, including the valve covers, intake, and wiring.
the engine block, heads, and internals are all effectively the same.

So I don't get that better flowing 97 intake lol. I also have a 97 cobra engine complete. Can that intake go on the car or am I still stuck making it the 96 still. So that means changing oil pressure sensor and temp sensor cam shaft position and crank shaft position sensors from the 96 into the 97 block. Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated Chris2523

I have a few motor n projects going on but Lincoln is first priority for daily driving and getting to the Drs for that I'm injured/ disabled. I have a 01 cobra motor with 40k. A 97 cobra wrecked with 68k. 97 mark 8 lsc with 159k which is the donor for the 96 mark 8 lsc. But I've seen some people with cobra intakes. I'm new with the whole new age electrical and quad cam stuff as I used to just play with the 5.0 fox body all day long. Had bout 20 foxes but came across the 01 cobra motor in a 96 mustang gt with a t-56 behind it but that's not close to running. Thinkin of pulling motor n goin 03/04 cobra swap. (Future) lol

the 97 intake is not better.
you can use the 97 cobra intake with more modifications. it is better.

I've looked up the valve cover gaskets and they are different in shape in many corners from 96 to 97. So how will the valve covers work? 97 cop and 96 is coil pack.

After further looking into the motors and removing intakes n tubes and some top stuff the fuel rails hard lines even branch out off the fire wall on opp side of intake. I don't think a 97 swap is doable !!

not sure about the gaskets but the valve covers definitely swap.
so do the intakes and fuel rails.

this is all very doable, and has been done many many times.
