DH had informed me a couple of months ago that my tail no longer lit up (I know, sounds like a personal problem :D). I assumed it was a bad ballast and am prepared to see about ordering a Glitch (whom I understand is fighting the C battle :().

So, whilst (tip o' the hat to you, 98lincmk7lsc :p) checking out the interior lighting on my Mark, I used my remote starter fob to unlock my car and noticed my neon flashed. So I had DH come out and check out my flashing tail, to which he responded that yeah, it flashes but doesn't stay on when braking (which was just reconfirmed...when I depress the brake pedal, the neon does briefly flash).

So, thinking ballasts and florescent lights (which is the only real experience I have with ballasts), if the problem is a bad ballast, wouldn't the neon not light...at all? Or does neon work differently than florescent (OK, does neon work differently than mercury vapor?)

So, boys...teach me something.

if your neon flashes but wont stay lit you need a ballast. cant buy factory unless you go used, but why do that when we have Rich McCarthy. glitchm@yahoo.com is how you get ahold of him. 90 bucks and DH should be able to solder a few wires and get your neon working again. and yes, i have a wife too so i know what DH is. when she wrote it once in one of her forums i thought she was calling me dickhead to her girlfriends!!

They only tell us thats what it means so they can call us a dickhead in public.

Yup, ballast. Your first thought was right. Sapperfires is doing the same thing. Ignites but then shuts down.

OK, I'll get in touch with Glitch then. Thanks for validating! :Beer for DH (or is that "dh"? :D)
