Hello
Hope you guys can help. My 97 Mark will not go past 30 MPH unless I turn off the traction control with the reset button.
The traction light illuminates when I hit 30MPH light clockwork. Car drives normal when I turn it off. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

clean the wheel speed sensors.

also, what size are your front and rear tires? the same? or different?

Hey thanks for the quick reply man! Yea all the tires are the same size. Do I have to remove 'em to clean them or is there a spray I can use?
Thanks

I would remove the wheels, one at a time and spray them with some CRC brand cleaner. MAF or electric cleaner could probably be sprayed on the gear that is being watched by the sensor itself. It could have some grime and dirt built up on the gear or the sensor itself for each wheel might have some build up. Don't be rough with the sensor or it could break and then you'll be hunting down another one and having to replace it. Might have to replace one anyway if one isn't working like it should be. I'm recommending the spray because it would all be touch-less and dry almost as fast as it's sprayed. Someone might recommend another way to clean.

fronts you have to remove the wheels.
rears you have to get up under the car because the wheel speed sensors are inboard up by the differential.

I had a similar problem when kicking it down - the car would bog down and quit accelerating and the traction control light went on. Never did find out what caused it, so I'll try the sensor clean and let the forum know. Thanks

Just replaced pads & rotors on the front of mine & couldn't believe all of the gunk/crap stuck to the sensor & toothed ring! I didn't have any issues w/the traction control but cleaned w/Brake Kleen. Looks like new & still working.
