Greetings all!! Once again I am seeking advice about my 97 MK VIII.
The drivers window switch has been operating intermittently.
Does anybody know how to extract this unit from the door panel.
E.G. remove door panel, pops out thru top, secret access panel?
Beats the hell out of me.
The dealer manuals are vague as hell about this procedure.
Oh by the way, the autozone doesnt sell this switch.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

the only wayt to remove the switches is from the backside of the door panel, so you have to pull the door panel off.

The door panel is off

The door panel is off! and everything looks so very fragile.
Im not sure how to ease this thing out of its recess without breaking something. My father says I could break an anvil so I better seek furthur advice!

Oh Boy the arm rest comes off

The arm rest comes off!!!! I am astonished!!!Talk about excitement!!
Now where do I get one of these, Rockauto?
I am referring to the drivers window switch. Each one of the little plugs backs
out of the houseing it sets in. Are the actual contacts in a sealed unit?

You are not going to find another window switch from Rock Auto. You need another Mark VIII. If you have the door panel off, you will see that the the switch is held in with some small screws. I have one if you need one.

the switches are only snapped into the back of the bezel there are no screws holding the switches in, the screws hold the switch bezel to the door panel. you can buy the switch at ford still or used ones and yes i have a box full of them. you need the double switch correct, the one with the driver and pass window switch together?
