Well, its done. I finally got the trans in, along with new O2 sensors, U-joints, Trans cooler and punched out the first 2 cats. Back in the mid 80's I had a 74 ULTRA-Z (custom camero). It ran low 12's. I bring this up because it also had a stall convertor (3500). I had forgotten about the slippage. I just mean you have to get the R's up for it to get moving, but not bad. It really changes the feel of the car. It flat out lights em up now:burnout: .

Depending on the pavement it will break them loose at about 25 mph on a normal street on the harder tar type streets it will break around 15 mph. I really don't think it's going to cut my 1/4 time much. but now the way it lights em up, it was worth every penny. Next will be the 4.10's, Trac Lok and driveshaft. Really looking forward to that now:hump: . Thanks to everyone who replied to my posts and the advice you all shared.

I also want to say, if you have something to add to someone's post (even if you think it has little meaning). Go ahead and post it, you never know what little points someone might be missing and you just might be the one to clear it up for them.

Thanks again all,:)

My brother went from 16.1 to 15.3 with bad traction by just putting a 2800 stall in his mark7 along with a shift kit.

Sounds like a nice setup, whose 3200 stall converter did you go with?

PI. I spent about 580.00. Great service, The guys name was Andrew or something like that. New exactly what I was doing. Said he sells a lot to Mark VIII guys. IT KICKS A$$. It's so bizarre, I ran at the track last year my best time was 14.91. My buddy said I had OK launch times. When I did this I ran with trac assist off and O/D off hardly spine the wheels. Now I punch it without power braking and it smokes em. It's like getting a brand new car. I can punch it at 25 and breaks them with no problem. I will have to get better tires so it will stick it to the pavement.

This is something I've never considered, but it now has me wondering-
what is the effect of a high stall t.c. when on the highway. Especially in a car that has such low cruising RPMs.

If I have a 2500 stall, but the car isn't doing more than 2000 RPMs on the highway, does this make any difference?

My query is due in large part to my lack of knowledge regarding how t.c's work.

I'm still pretty new with it. I'm sure others can answer your questions better than I can.

Is everything spelled correctly Frogman? Thanks frogman I now no how to spell CAMARO properly.:)

Greg

I don't care about peoples' poor spelling (most of the times), but every time I see someone who has owned a Camaro call it a camEro, it drives me batty. It's all cool though, I'm working on this problem with my shrinks.

Calabrio, I think your RPM's staying at less than rated stall on the highway has something to do with the Torque converter lock-up function, where the converter is locked to a 1:1 ratio by the PCM.

Well what company does Andrew work for? Doesn't help us out if you just tell us the name of the guy who sold you the high stall converter...

if you buy i high stall tc with lockup feature your highway cruising rpm's will be the same as now.

I was just saying that TC stall is not a concern on the highway because of torque converter lockup.

Could be 3200 stall, could be 1800 stall, could be 4000 stall. STill going to be a direct drive on the highway.

I have an Edge Racing triple plate that locks up even if I program it to under WOT. Works great.
