LCOKUP LOCKUP LOCKUP .

I think?

Calabrio, I think your RPM's staying at less than rated stall on the highway has something to do with the Torque converter lock-up function, where the converter is locked to a 1:1 ratio by the PCM.

hmmmm.. I wonder what THAT means.

Should have gotten a 4,000 stall. Doesnt affect driveability on these new ECM cars.

96 is NEW? What does ECM mean and what the difference between 3200 and 4000 except the obvious 800 RPM difference? My understanding is that you want it to start working at the beginning of you power range. Just wondering.

When he means new cars, I think he means ones with an electronically controlled transmission by the (ECM/ECU/PCM whatever you want to call it) and that started in 93 with the first Mark VIII. To maximize acceleration you ideally want a torque converter stall speed where your peak torque is. Every Mark VIII dyno I have seen shows peak torque right around 4000rpm, stock or heavily modified, the peak torque was right around there. So if you had gotten a 4000 stall converter you would probably gain a couple tenths in the 1/4 mile over your 3200 stall.
