My A/c clutch is shot. One day it just cut on, and it sound like a jackhammer. I have a video with the broken clutch. I disconnect the A/C compressor, and I am going to replace the A/C compressor fully within the next 2 months. However, Is there anyway I can just remove the clutch and just have the pulley spin freely (it seems like because the clutch is broke, its causing drag on the pulley system)? Also is there anyway to bypass the A/C compressor by rerouting the belt, and getting a shorter belt

Another question, what's the easiest way to remove the compressor. I say a tutorial, an someone said cut through the K-member which I don't want to do.

Thanks

Here's the video

I just replace AC clutchs all the time. No need to disconnect anything to do just clutch if you can get to it no problem. Just have to set up the outer part with correct amount of gap. They include shims for this with clutch. Think spec is .015. Clutch kits like avg 90 dollars.

Ok I might just do that, but for now, I just want the pulley to spin freely. Can I take the clutch off, and just have the pulley spin. Also anyway I could reroute the belt

No the bearings that make it spin smooth are the things that are smoked and make it wobble like you see. The new ac clutch is "new bearings" because there it middle of the ac clutch. I just rewatched the vid and maybe just your outer clutch plate is broken. I have seen this also. But most of the time its the clutch bearings. Once you pull belt off you'll be able to tell whats dead in there.
