There are alot of little details left to tighten up and should be available soon, like polished fittings, polished fuel rails, Custom CAI, new Coil Covers, etc.

I've got to re-bleed my brakes, drop my tank to fix a "fuel sender" problem (whatever that is) and then it will on the road for a while. Trans upgrade later this summer, Interior and paint this winter. maybe the bottle.

Just a FYI for the newbies:
Yes it is an 04 cobra motor
yes it is in a 97 Lincoln Mark VIII
Yes it runs
No its not been on the track (and may never see one)
No its not been on the Dyno (not a numbers queen either)

Great job dude. Awesome integration making that install look stock. Is that coolant tube 2 stock ones chopped together? Awesome idea.

Nice setup... i'm jealous, all this with the stock hood?

Yea I know but the big worry for me is the axles, they suck to swap when you snap one. plus its more of a show car.

Stock hood with a little notch in the liner for the small pulley.

Bah, broken parts are a chance to upgrade. :D

good luck finding upgraded axle's. I've "upgraded" just about every part you can on a gen 2 mark VIII except the axles. They'll have to be a one off custom job.

Congratulations, Jason. Well done. :)

I have a set of SC T-Bird Raxles in my Mark, and so far are doing fine with a couple visits to the track on them. My Vortech build is almost done now, and hope the Raxles continue to do well when the boost is turned up :)

So you got SC T-bird axles from Raxles recently. I talked to them and they said that they didnt do them anymore because of some joint that seems to be the weak link. How much did you pay for them.

I purchased them in October of last year. Marty at Raxles told me the same thing he told you.

I ordered two SC T-Bird axles @ $225 a side against his own advice not to buy them. He said I am going to break them, so be warned. He said the shaft is thick - 1.5", but if I get any wheel hop, chances are real good they will break at the knuckle because they are not the HD ones. He can no longer get the HD knuckles. It is also a reputation thing with him, and I can respect that.

I asked how many automatic Mark VIII's have broken his axles, and he said... one. And that one was due to wheel hop. Alot of manual shift trans T-Birds have snapped theirs though with hard launching. I told him I will take my chances, and I bought them anyways.

Since then, I have added the pinion brace, and also the diff cover brace, to keep things in place, and hopefully stop any wheel hop.

FYI - You can no longer purchase new T-Bird/Mark VIII half shafts from the dealer to compound the problem. Just used, and remans are out there now for purchase. One pair of new Mark axles were found by Torrie back in October - looking through the entire Ford inventory network. I would have bought them, but I already had ordered the Raxles.

If I snap them, I will bite the bullit and go to 31 spline Cobra axles and rear, since I am changing everything over to Mustang 5x4.5 hubs, Forgeline wheels, and Cobra R Brembo front brakes & Baer 2 piece rotors anyway within the next couple weeks when the stuff comes in.

I agree, off the shelf ones will have some fitment issues. But... not to argue this, there are many companies that will custom make them to fit, or make them from scratch. I hope it does not come to that, since I am only looking to lay down 400-450rwhp.

Best of luck with the rest of your build. :)

If I decide to install the bottles that I have sitting in the garage I'll be making over 600 but these axles may be the only thing keeping me from doing the install.

Mlshultz,

Take care of them rear sway-bar bushings while you are at it, if you haven't already!! :p

yea I want to get up as many body mounts and bushings I can. I'm doing alot of research now on where and how to replace them. I'll most likely do it while its getting painted.
