ok guys i had a really f&cked up weekend so here we go.
on friday me and my brother decided to fix a cylinder missfire on #3 cylinder we already replaced all the coils and spark plugs and no we didnt see any oil in the plug holes so no need for gasket change so we found that the fuel injector on this cylinder was not plugged in right so i took wire ties and tied all injectors connectors to the injectors and vuala worked beutifully.
The engine was running like a tank and went into the highway to test i hit 89mph and then suddenly massive engine power loss and we heard a hissing sound so i know i had a leak somewhare. we towed the car to the crib ( LOVE YOU AAA) and we saw the exaust hose that comes out of the egr sensor behind the engine was broken, no big deal right, well we replaced the hose with a exaust vacume hose and still same issue. then the big s%it hit me i saw a hole the size of a quarter on the intake manifold  so saturday we went hunting for a used intake manifold so we found it for a nice price $160 and it had the whole throttle body, fuel line, all injectors and IAC not bad huh. anyways we replaced the throttle body and now the engine sounds like a dream again but i cant get passed 20mph so i think i messed up a CAT or both  now i found this on ebay do you guys think that this is good for a replacement for it

i will post pics later on the intake manifold you cant beleave how much damage i had on it. it seems like the exaust hose from the egr was messed up for a while and it actually burned a hole right through the intake manifold because it the hole was cut from the outside in. CRAZZY WEEKEND GUYS

I don't think a messed up CAT will hold you to 20mph. Sounds like you hve another issue.

Yeah I doubt the issue is the cat, but maybe you did damage it a little. I would say just go with magnaflows, flowmasters, borla, or bassani. For a little more you'll get a better exhaust than that ebay one. Dont rush into it, do some research and then decide.

i have read that in our LS's if there is a blockage on the cats and the exaust cant escape it prevents the LS from getting into higher speed. unless i have a trans issue

To test for blocked cats just loosen header joint so exh can escape. Run the car after loosening and if she flys again its cats.

cool where is the heater joint located, i also heard to remobe the 02 sensors and the exh will escape from there is that works then its the cats.

Man when I read the title, I thought it was ANOTHER loss/beating of an LS!

this morning i turned on the car left it running for 10 min let it get nice and warm so i went to the back and the driver side exaust was blowing hot air like normal and i touched the muffler and hot like fire, now the passanger side had no air comming out of it and the muffler was cold so yup i got a really bad clogged cat.

hear me out, this is a small dose of common sense.

check the temp of the passenger side resonator, if it is hot, you have a plugged MUFFLER. the H pipe will allow the EXHAUST to exit the drivers side muffler causing the higher temp and excessive EXHAUST flow.

Dont assume the Cat is bad, drill a very small hole in the inlet pipe to the passenger muffler and see if you get any exhaust leakage, you might be surprised at what you might find.

you can also verify that the Cat is allowing exhaust to flow through by removing the downstream O2 sensor, it exhaust flows out the hole, its not the Cat.

Where did the metal go from the hole in the intake? My ex LS got t-boned hard and it sent the shock tower into the intake's side (V6) and smashed a hole through the cast aluminum plenum. That metal went into the engine and lodged in the valves, not allowing the compression required to produce power. It was also very evident in the cranking of the engine with the starter. It would free-wheel on the cylinders with metal lodged in the valves. If your engine managed to stay running, the combustion would have no resistance to coming back into the intake with valves stuck open.
