After 9 years, I think I'm done with this car

Kevin - the solenoids on the transmissions in the LS are also known for going out. Mine has the hard shift on 1-2, and on the 2-3 it shifts up, then back, then back again within 2 seconds, feeling like it's slipping while it's doing it. Fluid is solid though. There's a link in here somewhere that shows the parts needed and procedure to complete it, looks like about 300 in parts and about 2 hours work depending on how hard a time you have getting the fluid level right. You fill these transmissions through a tiny little port in the back, and you get the correct level by opening a plug in the bottom of the pan if you can believe that. About 5 quarts of fluid or so is needed according to the link. I plan to take mine straight down for a full fluid flush immediately after.

Just for clarification it is a solenoid pack. It is one piece, similar to a valve body.

Yep, and just think of what it would have been if they'd tweaked the engine bay to put a 4.6 in there, or put in a 5.0, either of which they could have built the car around when they were in the first design phases.
if the LS was a 4.6 platform, I would never desire to replace it! at least to me, the Jag cross breeding was one of the biggest downfalls of the LS. for the longest time, T Birds and a Lincoln have had a similar version of their own. leaving that was just plain silly... it would really help out some of our aftermarket problems lol

I've had 20 year old cars (older cars are a preference) that didn't wear their suspensions out nearly as badly as the LS seems to.

the LS is like a tightly strung fiddle. its tuned damn well, but as something starts to fall off, it doesn't take much at all to throw everything WAY out of balance.

especially in the rear...

I am noticing many differences in the cost of fuel pumps, FOMOCO is almost 900 dollars and the rest between 150 to 350. I tend to go with the best when I can, but does anybody want to weigh in here? I am a big fan of this car, but at 190000 it is starting to be costly to repair. Comes a point when you have to weigh the costs of repair to the value of the car.

Carter and Delphi make a good fuel pump, if the OEM is too expensive.
