Aftermarket CD player install

so i went to install a new radio/cd player in my 93 mark 8 and when u removed the radio i noticed the harness was different. I expected to the black and gray flat connectors (at least they are black and gray on the aftermarket harness) and instead i found a 2 smaller connectors. I realize now i should have taken pics but i didn't. They vehicle doesn't have the JBL audio or a CD changer. Any recommendations on where to get the right harness?.

I ran into a problem with my 96 town car signature with the JBL audio. When i couldnt find the right harness i went to a install shop. I was told that the radio is in the trunk and the unit in the dash is just a controller and would have to rewire the radio from trunk to dash. Is this the same thing??

Maybe be but I would check to see if u see the main harness with all wires for the radio like red, yellow, green, dual purple, dual grey, blue, orange, black, all will be in the same connector. If u have doubts just take it by a audio play to verify

Go to installer.com and pull up your car.looking at options you should only have two, and you already knocked out one. So instead of jbl you should have premium sound. Amp should be in trunk on back of seat if I rember correctly. If not check rear deck

Take pics and show us. There is a small connector in the mix but you don't connect that one to anything. There should be two connectors behind where the stereo would be. This goes for all Marks. All stock amps inside a Mark are all in the trunk, up high, in a black tray. When installing an aftermarket stereo, always re-wire everything, if you plan on keeping the car. Getting rid of the factory amp and speakers is one of the best things you can do because yours now are 20 years old. Things have changed since then. We now have bluetooth and iPod connections, not analog cell phones that work off a twirly antenna on the back window.

To answer your question, no, it's not the same thing. The stock Mark stereo is an actual stereo. It's junk but it is what it is. Never heard of all of it being in the trunk and the controller being up front.

Do the speakers and amp removal have to be done at the same time? I also I'm going to remove the radio now and take pics. Hopefully I can upload them from my cell
