I'm sure there's something that has been posted but I can't seem to find anything. Anyways, I decided it was time to put in a new battery in my 03 v8. I started it up after i got it hooked up and it said to set parking break and I did that. Good so far. But, when i started it up the air bag light stayed on also. I drove it around a bit, shut it off to get gas, started it back up and still no change. Even drove it some more and nothing. Wondering if any of you could shed some light on this for me. Any help is appreciated thanks!!

Yes, you have some fault with the SRS system. It should flash out a code when you start it. That code may help with where to look for the problem.

Do you mean flash out a code when i hook a scanner up to it? or just in the message center?

Also, I think i remember reading that this is a sign of the clockspring going bad because the cruise control also is inoperative. So could the clockspring be the cause?

A really good scanner will read a code. Most of the cheap OBDII only scanners won't.

When you turn the key on, the SRS light should come on briefly, then flash out a two digit code a few times, then go to solid on.

If you just want to play the odds, it is probably the clockspring.

I don't believe it flashes a 2 digit code or flash briefly. Just start it up and goes straight to solid.

Continuous The Air Bag Indicator is Illuminated Continuously, RCM Disconnected or Inoperative, Loss of Battery Feed, or Loss of Signal Ground

You might check the SRS fuse(s) first.

If not fuses, then what would your next guess be?

Alright, got the problem resolved. RCM fuse was blown. Replaced and what do ya know. Light goes off. About time something is an easy fix on this car lol
