More details on repairing / rewiring that yellow connector. Luckileo showed some very helpful pics, but wasn't clear on how to release the pins. The red insert slips down in from the top; I tore mine up pretty good trying to get it out and finally gave up and drilled a small hole in behind it to push it out with a drill bit. Then the pins are still held in by a plastic spring arrangement that's hard to see in the pics. There's a tab on the bottom of the pin that still has to be released. Push up (toward where the red clip was) against the spring and push or pull the pin out the back. 10 + years and mine were still quite flexible - that's a pretty good piece of plastic. Its quite a high end connector, but not worth the $40 Ford charges and certainly not the $60 OReiley wants.
The small foam plugs that form a water seal are actually crimped to the pin - you can't pull them out to look in.
One other observation: the reason these wires broke so much is they were dressed wrong. They should be routed over the cable to the seat computer, not under it. When the seat is all the way back the big cable presses against the back of the yellow connector and fatigues the wires, particularly the black one. So I made my pigtails long enough to go over this time.
