Never heard of them leaking there before. Ditto on the Eddie chat, he can say for sure.

It can, I have seen a pictorial where it was disassebled and a new shock tube installed and put back together. IIRC they used silicone one it to make sure it sealed and held. As Frat-man-du said though it's propbably not worth the time and effort on a ten year+ old part that probably wont last to much longer before the bag starts leaking anyway.

the one in the pic is not the one in the car the ones in the car look almost new
bag is almost perfect and I am poor right now

yes they can leak from there, there are 2 o-rings inside that cup that are around the bottom of the plastic cylinder. to take it apart, you have to make certain it is empty, meaning no air, take the solenoid out to be sure, then use an impact gun to take the top nut off, remove the washers and then you can tap the part where you have the circled part, the bottom of the plastic under the air bag, tap all around with a rubber mallet working around the whole thing and you will see it start to come out, then you simply lift it off and you will see the o-rings i speak of, they come apart very easy.

Do a write up on this with pictures!! This may be helpful to me someday!!

So I found a little time to experiment. I took apart one of the struts I had laying around in the same spot that the one in my car is leaking at And this one used to hold air
