hey guys i had unplugged my battery off and on for the last couple of days because of the work i was doing to the car but now the strangest things has happened my car wont start at all. the dash lights and so on come on nice and bright! no headlights or interior overhead lights or door lights. i also have an aftermarket alarm system does any know if it can be the alarm and if so whats the fix to the problem cuz i cant start my car at all

Have you contacted the place which installed your alarm system?

Have you checked fuses? In both the passenger side kick panel and under the hood? That'd be the first thing I'd check. Have you hooked up a voltmeter to your battery?

When you say it doesn't start, what happens when you turn the key? Bigger question might be what repairs were you doing prior to having the problem? What happened make you believe the alarm is the problem? Does it still arm and disarm, lock and unlock the doors? More info will help these guys help you.

when i turn the key the dash lights turn on. miles to empty, mileage and so on. i was installing a new system but the car started all throught out the process. one night while finishing up the process i left the battery unplugged. now car wont turn over at all. also no interior door lights come on, headlights or any lights besides the dasj lights. alarm doesnt respond at all unlock or lock i have ot do everything manually. also the car seats still have power i can adjust seats

Sounds like a PATS issue. Have you tried a different key?

if the headlights, and interior lights dont come on, there is a clue that something was done that caused a problem, unless you where messing with the alarm itself, then i doubt that has any thing to do with the problem. iot probably is on the same power circuit that has the problem.

are you sure you checked every single fuse in all three fuse boxes?

thx guys after checking through all the fuses none of them were broken we decided to test them we tested them and one came up faulty eplaced it and wahlah it works again!!!

yea man i was ready to bring it to the dealer tomorrow and they would have shafted me bigtime. i also finished my stereo system today finally it took me only a week and a half lol now im adding some chrome post pillars.

I had a phantom fuse issue on the impala I just detailed. Scared the sh*t out of me, since it wasn't my car. The display on the stock cd player quit working. It would still eject/load cd's, but radio/cd player/etc. would not work. I spent a good hour and a half trying to find the problem. Looked at all fuse boxes, no fuses related to the problem were blown, so I just started swapping those fuses one at a time. Faulty fuse somewhere in there, because after doing that, it started working again.

Then my buffer broke. I had to finish with a porter cable random orbital polisher. Still does a good job, just takes way longer.

Then my camera battery died while I was trying to take final pictures.

It was one thing after another.

The phantom fuse was frustrating as hell. Glad you got it figured out.
