All Of Our Marks Are On Ford's Recall List

How does this work if you are not the original owner? Would i be able to just wander in to a dealer and get it done free? How can i tell if its been done already?

They are just going to install a fuse? Thats what the article says.

"Dealers will install a fused wiring harness into the speed control electrical system or replace the deactivation switch it its found to be leaking."

I've done quite a few of these recalls. I think ford should just recall every single car the've ever produced. This way they can cover everything in one shot.

On that site in the above link it says this switch is powered at all times? So, even with the ignition off it is live? Thats not good... Good job i have my batt disconnected if thats the case! Imagine going out to your car one morning and its burnt out!

So how do we get this replaced? Do we just call up a local dealership?

Unless you need to setup an appointment, just go there and talk to the service writer. I think ours are going to take a little longer, as it is supposed to be somewhere in the right front of the car. I'm just getting the intake manifold back together, so I cant go underneath to investigate. I will in the next couple of days.

This little bugger is in the passenger fender, behind the liner and just behind the ride compressor. On 93 its below the master cylinder is memory serves me correct.

So if Ford admits this part is faulty, then will those fellow Mark owners that had their Mark burst into flames get reimbursed?

I recall one such thread with photos and all and it was clear was caused it.

The way FORD and any big company thinks, Are in dollars. If it costs $100 million to have a recall, like when the mustang gas tanks were exploding in an accident and people were injured and dieing, They would calculate the cost of the lawsuits and if it costs less to pay for the lawsuits....Then they'll let the people keep burning! Of course now the government got involved...But if they could get away with it they would!!

That was the Pinto. Wasn't it?:shifty:

So basically, every mustang from the beginning to at least 2004 model year are death traps in a rear impact collision. I think I will install that roll cage in the GT.

Also, watch out for them...Ford Explorers with Firestone tires! Lol. :shifty: These things are often exaggerated by the crappy media. No more people died in pintos than in any other vehicle of the time. (although it is listed as one of the worst vehicles ever produced)

Awesome. People can't fvcking see at night, but we'll fix your cruise control switch!

I dunno about that. Think about it, flames shooting outta the front fender will sure light up the road! LOL Maybe I should not take mine in.....

My 94 E-150 was recalled a couple of years ago for the same issue. The solution was to remove the cruise relay and render the system useless- thanks FOMOCO! At least now they have decent solution.

huh? did you do the 2nd half of the recall, when it first came out you went in and they just unplugged the switch, then when the recall kit came out you were supposed to return and have the kit installed. it should work (if it did before)

Wasn't it just the master cylinder leaking into the cruise control that was causing the fire's. I think the grand marks the state troopers were using in MI were catching fire from rear impacts also (gas tanks)

its the brake psi switch, it would leak through and brake fluid runs down the wires and into the cruise servo and the whole sys would short out, the rear collision recall in the vics, they had us put a shield to block the lower shock mounts from slicing through the gas tank during impact
