All Of Our Marks Are On Ford's Recall List

thank you all for this info,i feel alot safer driving my mark 8 knowing that there are other people out there looking out for me other than the dealer, corse all they want is the cash.
jon..

huh? did you do the 2nd half of the recall, when it first came out you went in and they just unplugged the switch, then when the recall kit came out you were supposed to return and have the kit installed. it should work (if it did before)

No, that's news to me the Service Advisor told me that was all there was and live with no cruise control or the van will go up in smoke. They are out of business now so I will try another dealer when I take the Mark in.

Thanks!

Well isn't the van listed? Do you still have it? Take it in... LOL...

This recall covers 92-93 then 97-2002 E-150s They got the 94-95 in an earlier recall. I didn't do any research on like I would have for the Mark (the van is regulated to holiday travels and home depot runs) so I wasn't educated when I took it in and they #@@#$ me.

I see from the advise here that the harness just wasn't ready then and I should be able to get it replaced. :D

Just had mine done yesterday. Took about a hour and a half, No appt. But be careful they didnt tell me what was done or gave me any paperwork.

So only my 93 is on the recall? Not my 94 and 95?

How do I know they were done if it was an earlier recall?

GMAN,

Thanks for the info, I was not aware! So I joined the group.

I have a 95 Mark III and I have a clunk when I put it in reverse. So I was checking for tips. I am thinking U-joint? I am praying no trany problem.
I am looking for a replacement left front headlamp assembly. As my crome blew off a while back.

Please drop me a line if you have any ideas.

Thanks!

...I used to work at Ford in Parts and Service engineering.

True story - in 1986 during the fuel-spewing debacle that affected all commercial vehicles, ESPECIALLY ambulances, an ambulance was called to respond to an accident in tennessee....

...a 1982 Ford F150 (known spongy brakes due to caliper stretch

...ran into a pinto that had died in traffic

...that caused a fiery explosion

...and as the EMS personnel administered first aid the AMBULANCE exploded due to fuel spewing out both fuel tanks (a smidge of an exhaust routing error)

Ford denied comment/responsibility. :)

But will they FIX my cruise?

My cruise is inop - I have a new *(used) in-fender control head and cable assy.... but will Ford buy me a new one now?

Anyone else see a history here? First, it was the Pinto. Then, the Lincoln Versailles. After that, the Granada. Then, the E-Series, and of course, then the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Who's next, the Fusion?

tires

I am looking to put some tires on my 94 and i want to have a wider tire on the back than the front but I don't want the rubber band foreign car look. I like the old american muscle look. Will the MKV111 accept 15'' rims or can anyone give advice on tire sizes. I have the 16'' factory rims right now. When I come down the road i want people to know that these cars mean business.

Um what's rims and tires have to do with a recall?... Hmmm... becareful!! they might catch on fire too... and tires BURN!!... that burn hot!!...
