You are correct sir! That's good advice.

I have air shocks on my Mark. The Cobra has struts:cool:

Meh... I guess I like my DOCH T-bird, it wears its tuxedo quite well.

Actually, your Mark is awesome! It's just a shame it's riding on coils. A Mark as cool as yours deserves a proper air ride system. Just my opinion.:)

:) Yeah. I can get a little carried away. I just have an intense, irrational hatred of McPherson struts.

How about spring? Does that make you tingly, too, or would it pass? :shifty: :D

You make me tingly...

I doubt it's the control arms, we've replaced both the LCA's and UCA's. More likely it's the sway bar end links. But feel free to bring it around and we'll figure it out.

I'm hoping the new clunk is the sway bar end links too. It should be the only part left in the front end not replaced. They are cheap and easy to replace.......even I can replace them :)

I'll remember that you said that. :p

It's not always that easy.

my fronts have developed a leak on drivers side. some nights overnight it will stay up. when its down and the compressor is on i can hear the air coming out but it will pump up. somedays ill drive, no prob others the check air ride will come on and ill be down in front. i was rhinking it was the SHOCK maybe now a faulty sensor. dont know. i have the strutmasters from old car but with only the one side i just want to fix it.

My front air shocks had started to leak down overnight and the compressor was starting to get noisy, rear bags were ok but I did notice on long trips it would drop some in the rear. They were original equipment and I think the sensor lowering did them in; not to mention I use the word shock loosely as the dampening was all but gone.. she felt a little squishy.
When I went to springs I did it the right way. Eibach pro 1.5 lowering springs all around with rear air lift bags and perches from DLF. Urethane rear bushings and tokico illumina shocks set to firm on all four corners.
The springs have all settled in and the ride height is perfect. With the front braces and full subframe rails it feels a little stiff around town over good bumps (not like a fox body) but on the highway.its as smooth as can be.
When I pull the k-member and rear sub frame I'll upgrade the sway bars, she already handles like she's on rails.
Honestly for what I spent I could have bought all new factory ford air ride. I think I made the right choice given the way I like to drive and seeing as the koni front shocks are gone so no more adjustable options for the front.

I can understand your point. But wouldn't it be possible to use the Tokico Illumina shocks in a GEN2 air shock housing like some have done with the Konis? Then use some T-Bird SC solenoids wired to a rocker switch in the cabin to adjust from soft to firm?

No. You need a shock body or insert slim enough to fit inside the stock air shock tube.

I wish I would have cut my passengers side open when I took it off. I would like to see what all is in there. It was the one that was so rotted and caused me to buy a new pair. I sold the drivers side (for shipping only) and it looked like it had been replaced within the last 8 years or less. Someone on here bought it. No cracking in the fold or anything. I didn't know this when I had promised it though. I should have kept that one.
