sry for long read but please take a look.

ok, so my mom told me this story a bunch of times, and i didnt believe her because it never happened to me. well now its happened, and here i will explain.

i was backing out of the driveway and the doors kept trying to lock, like i was holding the button down, even though i wasnt. then the door ajar thing came on the computer. i parked the car and unlocked the door. i opened the door and then shut it and it was fine... till i got to work. i locked the car and armed the alarm and not 20 seconds later, the alarm was blarring. i went and turned it off. i made sure the car was in park, the doors were shut, and the hood was shut, and locked it again. the alarm went off again.

this next time, i didnt use the remote to lock the car, i pressed the door lock, and walked off. it went off a 3rd time. by now, im mad. i opened it back up, and pressed the door lock needle thingy down and shut the door. now the anti-theft light was blinking and the car was locked. explain that.

well, then i was leaving work, and the door ajar thing comes up while im driving and all the doors are shut! i open the door, and the car keeps trying to lock the doors. so i unlock them, and shut the door. the car doesnt lock the doors but the computer starts talking again. DOOR AJAR

i need help NOW please. we're kinda short on money (for shop) and im leaving for colorado saturday. what could this be? why is it doing this? is it an easy fix?

thanks for reading, I will take ANY help givin.

The reason the alarm didn't go off when you pushed the lock lever down is because doing so doesn't arm the alarm. That's why the anti-theft light was blinking. When the alarm arms the lights goes solid green. I have to lock my car that way or else the alarm goes off quickly. Spraying wd40 in the door latch will probably fix the door ajar problem.

ok, so will that help the alarm situation at all? because this is the first time the alarm has EVER done anything like this. im afraid it will lock the whole car down in the middle of the road or something. maybe im freaking out but im just curious.

thanks for the help thus far :)

I think it should because your door ajar probably comes on when the car is armed and then it turns on the alarm and WD40 should fix that.

I had the same problem with my factory alarm, but I had long since fixed my "Door Ajar" situation before the alarm started acting up.

I ended up just disconnecting the alarm module. If you figure out what the problem is, please tell us.

well, i used WD-40, and it worked, for the first part of the day. it keeps jacking with me.

anyone got pics on where the module is? i dont wanna screw it up. thanks for all the help. (my mark is a 94 if it matters.)

also, is there any other way to get the door ajar sign to go away other then the WD? it keeps beeping on and off for about the first 2 minutes of drive time

WD40 on the pass. Side door mech - then worked it (open closed the door) 2-3x then WD40 again.

Worked on my 98 LSC 4 months ago...still ok.

alright, i try it again tomorrow. my moms also going to call Lincoln or Ford Dealership to see if they can run an electrical test just so nothing goes wrong on the trip.

i replace those damn ajar switches all day long its a bad set up the switch is in the bottom of the latch just spray the hell out of it. it is made so when the door is open it pushes the switch in and well after a while it just gets stuck down i agree with everyone else spray down in the latch and slam the snot out of it a bunch of times and there, i just saved you 1 hour diag time and $$

i removed my anti theft module today - there was water on it! anyways, it was behind the passenger side kick panel, very easy to get out.

figures i tell customers to just get a mechanic in a box, throw it in the trunk and it will never act up again

do you have any instructions on how to do that....i hate having to lock my doors manually.

Sure - On the passenger side, remove the trim piece along the door sill - it should just snap off, you can use a small flat screwdriver to do it. Then, you can also snap off the plsatic trim kick panel. Once this is off, there is one more piece to remove - the black plastic piece under the glove compartment. This has 3 Torx screws holding it in, and it comes out easy enough.

Once that is out, you will see a yellow box up and to the right sort of in the kick panel space. It is the module. It has 2 connectors. Remove the connectors. It is attached the the car by a steel mouting bracket with 2 screws. Remove these screws and it just comes out.

It's pretty easy, and doesn't affect the operation of the car whatsoever - door locks still work, keypad still works - it just stops :q:q:q:qing up every 2 seconds.

Thanks a bunch.

I tell ya, when i first got the car, i cant tell ya how much i freeked out when that thing would go off. Sometimes it would trick me and wait a few hours, and then....BAMN

My 93 does the same thing but the horn quit working one day going down the road made a weird sound and hasnt worked since. I can use the remote or keys or lock unlock button and a few mins later the lights go nuts. the hood is disconnected so it has to be something right?

you blew the fuse for the horn most likely - happened to me once, horn made a super weird long sound and them poof. does your cruise control work?
