Took my LS out and decided to see what it would do. Not that I advocate this by any means, especially on public roads, but does anyone know what the top speed is for a first generation LS? How about a stock first gen LS? 2nd gen? 2nd gen modded?

148mph is all my first gen LS can do on a flat road with and closed course.

mods:
DIY cold air intake
magnaflow
tune

The dash reads higher than 155ish but the GPS gives a max of 147-148mph.

seems about right, I had mine to like 135('02) before.

I wonder if Quik has tried for top speed since installing the SC... It has to be a little higher.

First time i drove the LS i accelerated fast to merge ahead of a semi truck, looked down and i was doing 130. Felt like i was doing 30. Haven't been past 90 since then.

I'm lucky I can do 55 on the highways around here with all the traffic.

LOL..

i got my V6 up too like 125...it deff had more in it...but i don't like to just FLOOR it for a long time...id hate to have a tire blow out or whatever happen while going excess 100mph. after i got my rims....since my wheel shakes at like 70 now , i hate going fast period...i wish i knew how much of change in the ride would come from my rims... :shifty:

the Gen1 tops out around 147 - the non-sport Gen1 and all Gen2 are electronically limited to 133.

I won my class at the Texas Top Gun shoot out a few years ago with 153 (pre-SC). The third year I went with a different car - but the competition has really really stepped it up...

quik, did you have anything other than a tune, exhaust, intake, and lowering springs?

I did 140 (or at least that read my speedometer) on my 00 V6 5Spd. completely stock. I took a pic with my cell as I won 200 bucks from my boss who though a car like mine couldnt even make 120

I had to record a video with my cell when reaching 140, but I took a pic a moment before, came out at 139 but it did got up to 140 and then I believe it did a fuel cut, then I just let go.

Note: this was like a 11 months ago when the car was mine... but after 10 months.. I bought it back

You can cut a hole in the floor under the gas pedal so you can push it down farther.

when i first got my 2000 lincoln ls when i was 15 i pushed 136mph on the freeway at 4am in the morning and that governer thingy kicked in and slowed me down.

Slabls, what part of houston?
I have only done 105 once. I wont push it anymore now that my steering wheel shakes at high speeds.

I did 126 on 35W on my way to work once, I slowed down and 1/2 mile later there were 3 state troopers :D

On 35W you have to get up to that speed to jump the river where the bridge used to be.

. . . too soon?

I've been up to 120 one time and it had plenty left.

I only need to get to 88mph, then my flux capacitor takes over.

Top Speed

"See Land Speed LS" for top speed info, and note that one mile will provide about 130 MPH, stock. As set up, mine should do a little better than 160, all out. The new engine ?????
KS

I hit 147mph in my 2000. I still had pedal. I let up thinking that was fast enough for me. I have KKm intake from LSKoncepts.

that's the issue - you have pedal and rpm left - just hit the point of torque = resistance and the car will not go faster.
