Im trying to debate whether I should get oem headlights or switch to the hids but i dont know where to get them! IF YOU CAN HELP I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!!

what year is your car? If you don't have factory HID's then you need new housing before you can switch.

Here are the options:

1. Install a pair of driving lights behind the grill. This is an effective and inexpensive way of actually being able to see in the dark. It worked for me for several years.

2. H.I.D. headlights. There are some new assemblies for sale. You can buy them used, but it takes some effort. And, if I were doing it again right now, I would probably just search for a pair of housings and then retrofit an aftermarket HID bulb to fit it, since Ford has stopped producing replacement bulbs.

2001 lincoln town car...

I just bought some HID 4300k headlights for my 2001 town car...they came plug and play and they're bright as heck.

I bought a pair of new factory halogen housings with all bulbs included a year ago from ford for $400 bucks. The lights still look and work as new. No burning of the inside reflective material either. I think a big problem is that the auto light feature on the mark VIII's suck! I see almost all of them running around with the headlights on in the day! Turn it off and manually turn the lights on at night, otherwise your lights will be on in the day if your auto light feature doesn't work properly. I bought my new lights through Team Ford. The HID housings are way too expensive anymore and the bulbs are too hard to find. If I was going to go that route I would just buy new hallogen housings and a HID plug and play kit off of ebay for $90.00 bucks Others have done it and yes it will work. Good Luck.

It's illegal to put the HID bulbs in halogen assemblies.
You do run the risk of tickets, but worse yet, you run the risk of distracting and blinding oncoming traffic.

There is a guy on eBay who is claiming that he has a patten pending on re-furbishing Gen I headlights. Both the Lens and reflective backing of the housing.

I picked up a set. I asked him if he'd refurbish a set of my own he side he would do a set for $200 which includes shipping.

The set I have looks very good and work great. Time will only tell how good but they are warrantied not to fail.

I don't have his e-mail and address but I can get it when I get home tonight. PM me if you are interested.

Illegal? Well it may be illegal but who is going to ticket you for it? I see rice burners, large SUV's, etc with the HID kits installed in the hallogen housings. They don't look to bright to me and the police do not bother them, at least not here. It is also illegal to remove or to gut your convertors but people on this site do it. The cops shouldn't mess with you if the lights are aimed correctly. You could always spend thousands to make it OEM HID legal. I'm pretty sure that Gangtamark8 put them into his hallogen housings and likes the results also.

But of course it would be illegal LOL!

There's a difference between gutting your cats and installing HID bulbs in halogen housings.

You don't blind oncoming traffic and create a road hazard by having hollow cats. And the police are increasingly cracking down on this because of the popularity of the conversion among the younger cheesy tuners.

With a car like the Mark VIII, it's not that difficult to obtain HID lenses, so it's responsible to get them.

OK, it's responsible to get them! (LOL) I'm through posting in the thread.

Then I guess I'm in real trouble!:p

In all honesty if your going to an sort of HID kit just make sure they are aimed correctly and you should have no issues. I would rather have a properly aimed kit and be able to see at night then have little to no output from my headlights and have someone hit me! JMO.

I Need websites for locations to get kits and lights! something for refrences!!

if you just want HIDS for standard halogen lenses,
go to ebay(or google)and type in "9005 HID conversion"
you will get about 900 items on ebay.
thats all your doing is buying a HId kit that fits in where 9005 bulbs go.

[BlingLights.com DO NOT BUY A CHEAP KIT YOU HAVE TO SPEND MORE THAN 300 dollars

What about after market headlight covers for the 96 LSC Mark VIII, it'd be nice if someone sold the whole unit, because my lenses are looking a bit old. I still have factory HID assembly and hopefully that don't go out because they are expensive. thanks.
